Title: Wednesday night in Nottingham - a love affair ends?
Post by: david3103 on September 07, 2011, 11:50:59 AM
Where to go for poker?
I'm looking for a tournament, up to £50, and maybe 50/1 cash  after my predictably early exit.

DTD, Alea, or Gala?

DTD or alea. DTD better for cash as they'll always be a game whenever you bust, it won't get started till later at alea.

Gala is poo.

If you run that bad why not try all 3?

Went to Alea - the triple chance started late with about 10 players and finally had 19 runners.
I didn't run bad - I just played like an idiot and was out before the end of the second level.

Cash started with 5 players sometime around 10 and broke up around 2ish. Still feeling unfocussed I dribbled my stack down to about £60 and then got allin pre against the table captain (monty?). I raised to £6, he re-raised to £15, I shoved with Ahrt Kh He flipped his hand as he called my shove  Aspades Ad.
Flopped a flush draw, turned gutshot and rivered broadway and never looked back.
Ran good on the first two deals for rakefree although the AKvAA was the only hand of note I won in the first hour I did much better after that  :) +£370 for the session  :)
Some nights it can be like that for me - suddenly I'm in tune with the table and making good decisions. These are the nights that make me keep coming back.

Service and approach from the staff was tremendous, the table had plenty of banter and 5% rake capped at £5 means that outside of special events my choice of venues when I'm down here midweek is no longer an automatic drive to Redfield Way.

Glad that you enjoyed it! I was the fat floor staff with glasses lol.

Comp had 22 in the end. That's definitely gonna pick up soon, but a little slow to start. Really pleased to hear you'll be coming back!

Is the Notts casino as mice as Leeds and 235 in Manchester?

Lol. They are much nicer casinos than your gala and G types and a world away from the napoleons.  The restaurants are not too bad and defo somewhere you could take the wife.

235 isn't nice
Notts is the smallest but it's good lots of hot girls on sat nights
I like notts one the most cos they do neighbours by 2 on roulette

I thought it was the best casino in Manchester especially if you were ever with someone allowed in the icon suite. What's better in Manchester Paul?

Pleasant, if a touch bijou...
One issue for me was the Salsa class going on in the bar next to the poker room. The level of noise just outweighed the aesthetic appeal of the female paricipants, But only just.

I was indeed on your table - I was the donk in Seat 1.
Unusually I wasn't the oldest at the table ~ thanks for bringing your dad :-) and well done him.

I'm not a big fan of triple chance tournaments but the place was very welcoming and I will be back for midweek visits when I'm down that way for work.

Quite possibly the only hand I didn't butcher all night lol

You were running pretty bad it seemed. Didn't you get it in well ahead with AA again a little later on to be beaten by the river card?

As an aside - can I say how refreshing it was that on the AK>AA hand you declared your hand instantly rather than the usual practice of waiting to the end to deliver the bad news.

Yeah I didn't run great but made some pretty spewy plays as well.

As far as delivering the bad news, I wish more people would act like I do in those kind of situations... It tends to keep everyone happier and the table much more friendly rather than getting into the completely retarded situations where no-one will show their cards to claim the pot because they want to see what the other guy has...

The second time I had AA I had run into a flopped set and obviously didn't get the news until after the river when my cards were turned face up when we got in on the flop...

Definately agree with this ^. Have always been one to show or declare straight away

Did you last night when you called 100bbs pre with A9o vs an old guy limp shoving?

Did you proudly declare "I have A9!" or snap turn your hand over like it was the nuts?
