Title: Six Max comes to DTD this weekend
Post by: TightEnd on September 12, 2011, 12:42:51 PM
"Hi All

This Saturday and next we are introducing the £150 Six Max High Roller guaranteed at £10,000 running at 5.30pm with a late reg of 8.45pm. You can satellite in via our MEGA SAT running at 1.30pm the same day for £25 with 10 seats guaranteed.

You can also win your seat online for this Saturday's event. €2.50 feeders are now running 8 times a day every hour between 12.30pm and 7.30pm into the 9pm €25 freezeout satellite. These will run short handed, ideally as a Six Max but network restrictions mean they will run 5 handed online.

Check out Rob's blog for more information on why we have decided to try the Six Max tourneys again http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/blog.php?profile=4"

With this and Leg 1 of the Sky Poker Tour a £200 6M in six weeks time, a good time to be a Live six max player at DTD...

Who will be playing this weekend?

Unless something more interesting comes up I'll be there.

Love the 6-max tournaments.  Haven't been to deeteedee for quite a few weeks since I moved, but will definitely try and make it if I can.

'Tis for some.

Then I expect to see them doing £5 6max tourneys soon to cater for there low stakes players.

I'm not having a go and I don't really care, I just don't get why they say an events high roller when it's not, don't think anyone thinks it is either.

It is to those who usually play the 15-pound comp.

it's an improvement on the last high roller which wasn't even the biggest tournament they had on that day

it's one hell of a big nit, not too hard to pick

hope this is a success though and keeps running as I quite fancy playing it some time

Its just a name mate, its hardly a big deal is it?  Everyone know what the buy in is that's all that matters

Get the people who usually play the smaller buy-in tournaments excited?  Why do so many call their tournaments 'deepstack', when they actually have a clock that makes it a turbo structure?  Maybe because it sounds good to the average punter?

There was a $250k high roller at the Aussie Millions earlier this year wasn't there?

Does this mean that a £20k comp isn't a high roller anymore?

It just depends on the individual as to whether it's high roll or not.

Like Dan says, it's just a name and you can pick it apart all you like.

Is the Super50 really 'super'?

Is the Incredible100 really 'incredible'?

I think you could argue that neither of these live up to their names if you really wanted to but who really cares?

I just like the logo guys, its that's simple. It was originally for £500 and above Six Max Comps (correct me if im wrong but apart from EPT isnt £500 the highest in UK??).

However, this £150 is 3 x our previous £50 weekly Six Max on Thursdays, so we've tripled the buy-in and allowed re-entry and put it on Saturday, so in that respect, its high roller (ish) LOL It won't take 5 mins to take the words high roller off, no big deal, its an experiment. I would play this event because its 6 max and i can win £3.5k for £150, it doesn't matter that's its not a £5k buy-in to me and we have tagged it High Roller. I guess it will develop itself in terms of buy-in, GTE and structure, Six Max is something i'm keen to develop at the club, on a weekly basis, even though it costs 50% more £ to deal it, I feel there are now FO comps that are as good as DTD out there now, so we have to evolve. Im gonna play it this Saturday, personally, I feel a 30 min clock is excessive for a £150 Six Max, I would prefer 20, but ill see how it plays myself. Cheers Rob

I think you should call it the "Incredible 6-max Meg-balla Hi-roller Super Deepstack World Championship" next time (just for Ray ;)).

Love these 6-max tournaments and I'm sure I'm there are loads who are looking forward to it this weekend. With the 30-minute clock you're spoiling us :). Even the satellites for this have a decent amount of play!

Simon overuled me on the clock, I wanted 20 mins like we have done before when we have done these on weekends, i think this plays better than 30. However, Simon's point is that he wants the £150 FO guys to play it and they will want a longer clock. The £25 satelitte before hand will be interesting, 10 seats GTE, I'm expecting to have to add 5 seats LOL, however, im happy to invest in a new event that i will enjoy playing myself, as its a long time since we opened at 1pm on a non deepstack weekend, poker players do not like changes like this :(

I definitely think the 30 minute clock is too long but I'm sure there's also a few who'd prefer it even longer.

It won't stop me playing anyway so it's obviously not that big a deal to me.

Simon is pretty good at structures. i  prefer 6 max tournies as its a far more skillfull game than full ring but  too many end up being crap shooty at the business end of the tourney.

The first 6-max that they ran had a 35-minute clock by accident (think the clock was set to a PokerStars side-event structure or something) and was excellent.  Loads of play and the average stack stayed well above 20xBBs until well into the final table.  I'm sure there's still plenty of play with a 20-minute clock as well.

What's the structure for the live satellite on Saturday?  Apologies if it's mentioned previously on the thread.

Being good at structures is nothing to do with it to be honest. A structure is designed to make a comp finish when you want it to. If you're good at structures you get it to finish at the right time.

The reason I'd prefer a shorter clock is because I'd prefer the comp to finish sooner.

With a 30 minute clock it will probably finish about 4am at level 20 or something.

Make it a 20 minute clock and the same comp is finished at 1.00am which would be my preference.
