Title: a few hands from august 300 deepstack Post by: paulhouk03 on September 17, 2011, 09:29:56 AM blind vs blind
we are both the short stack with around 16 bb and him around 14 16 players left i think he is competent and aggro maybe too aggro i dunno what he thinks about me but we talked about shovinig ranges and going for the win and it sounds like he doesnt really care about busting. His name is terry the one that alex talked about in his blog it folds round to us with aces in the sb we ? my exit hand from the 300 i have about 15bb my image is just a shove monkey. chip leader who has been the most active when short handed raised big to something like 3.75bb bigger than usual 3 bb he normally raises with he is utg 5 handed whats our shoving range here? Second hand, him raising bigger than usual and your image make me think that only the top range of hands should be shoved with AQ sooted + JJ+..something like that Title: Re: a few hands from august 300 deepstack Post by: outragous76 on September 17, 2011, 12:05:50 PM 1st Raise call it off or raise bet bet
2nd 99+ Ajs+ Title: Re: a few hands from august 300 deepstack Post by: DMorgan on September 17, 2011, 12:25:27 PM Even a spazzy aggro recognises that playing 14 bigs effective you're never raise calling so first one I just complete. Even if he doesn't shove (which I expect him to do a lot) he's still likely to stack off if he flops any equity and obv even into a 2.8ish with antes bb pot we can easily still get stacks in even when we limp pre.
Second one he's not raise/folding anymore. Not sure about MTTs but in HUSNGs when someone suddenly makes their raise size really big when stacks are short they tend to have A9+, 22-TT. A hand that he doesn't want to get flatted with and flop bad. Definitely not jamming light over this, I think AJo is a real decision. Would need more reads like how often he's been opening, whether he's been aggro post or is he likely just picking up hands because 3x being his standard pre sounds pretty fishy. I'll go with AJ+/77+ in this spot I think but haven't looked at any numbers Title: Re: a few hands from august 300 deepstack Post by: cambridgealex on September 17, 2011, 12:39:25 PM Even a spazzy aggro recognises that playing 14 bigs effective you're never raise calling so first one I just complete. Looks like he has a hand he wants to protect. Probs tens plus. AQ+
First hand I like to limp. Although they always check and it comes 567ddd or w/e Title: Re: a few hands from august 300 deepstack Post by: paulhouk03 on September 17, 2011, 04:08:08 PM My standard raise was. Lik 2.2 at the time
In the first hand I did limp and like 1.3 bb donk bet the flop and he folded He aalso called my hand out before the flop as he checked fml Title: Re: a few hands from august 300 deepstack Post by: cambridgealex on September 17, 2011, 06:38:38 PM thats the thing, if you think he's decent enough to figure you're limping almost nothing but monsters there then you should probs just go ahead and shove.

but i think my limp was the best move Title: Re: a few hands from august 300 deepstack Post by: GreekStein on September 17, 2011, 09:11:03 PM i'd raise if it is the same guy alex has been posting about
Title: Re: a few hands from august 300 deepstack Post by: mondatoo on September 18, 2011, 04:33:05 AM I don't really like limping hand 1 if villain is good and more importantly if he thinks your competent.
Title: Re: a few hands from august 300 deepstack Post by: DMorgan on September 18, 2011, 08:56:17 AM He may have called your hand but no way does he actually fold if he flops something
