This will go over a million today, it looks a relatively straightforward card as well. Yesterday´s was ridic with 20 runner handicaps at Redcar galore. I´m going in for a big perm, gl anyone who does go for it.

Seven of us £350

Therefore I would suggest 4 races with 3 selections and two with 2 selections.

Money by bank transfer preferred

Everyone pick six horses and we will see what the cross over is?

fwiw I love Imperial Pippin in the third. Read alot early in the season about how highly they thought of this one. It hasn´t delivered yet but everything looks perfect today (trip/track/ground). Needs to improve a load on what it´s achieved so far but Gosden horses improving loads at this time of year is pretty standard.

take any of mine out that you want to - basically i don't think anyone will mind doing a cut and shut down to the desired number of perms.

If anyone is that insistent on having their own selections, they can cover it separately?

Chopped 5 from Race 1 as he only had one vote compared to the others have 3 and 2 respectively
Chopped the outsider from both Race 5 and 6
Finally removed Theology from Race 5 to get the numbers right. This scares me a little!

This is what I´m on. Bottled having a real go at it as I´m not really confident about the first, typical late season Newmarket maiden where something finds massive improvement or an unraced one hoses up at a huge price.

26/7 on each number, then 130/7 next spin if we hit? Gives us £650 for tomorrows attempt?

Think there were 400k lines done today, but not sure if I am working that out correctly.

how many were in? 7? i say we all pick a number and SPIN THAT SHIT!

 2s 9s ftw

26/7 on each number, then 130/7 next spin if we hit? Gives us £650 for tomorrows attempt?

Think there were 400k lines done today, but not sure if I am working that out correctly.

One live ticket on the favourite... think I would have a heart attack watchin this race.

would there be any way to lay off and guarantee yourself a nice payday without eating too much into the £1.2m? obviously you would need readily available huge funds to do so?

Most people would just need to watch through the cracks in their fingers!

Ouch that a sore one....

Yeah I would defo want to risk the £200k odd of it to win £40k or something.... Thought for a split second it was gonna kick on and win!

Unless you´re already very wealthy the correct play would be to try and lay it all. Obviously you wouldn´t be able to but it would definitely be the sensible call. More than 200k would do very nicely ty.

Nah don't think is want to lay it all, would much rather go for the glory and the million & still be guaranteed a decent payday

Nah don't think is want to lay it all, would much rather go for the glory and the million & still be guaranteed a decent payday

That´s fine if glory and an arbitary figure of one million are important to you but I only gamble to make money and I´d  think of it in standard bankroll management terms. Why risk what would be >90% of my bankroll. Glory is fine but doesn´t have a place in gambling, money ftw.

Title: Re: Newmarket Jackpot
Post by: Hairydude on September 22, 2011, 06:24:05 PM
Maybe that's why I don't gamble for a living but.....the difference between making a difference in my life from 40k to 200k ain't anywhere as near as much as the million...I'm not talking bankroll sizes as in this position its effectively life(time) roll

Also if you had a million in your hand and you were offered 6/5 on a coinflip but only if you bet the lot...would you take it? Would you even take it at 5/1, I know I wouldn't!

Does this mean you've got £2 on each of 1, 6 and 7 or is the £6 spread differently?

Or is it something completely different altogether?

Why weren't we doing these on holiday when we were sat having cocktails with Ronnay Barkay?

No no

There is a pool of entries = £7630
Each one is a pound line

We started with 54 lines
3 x 3 x 3 x 2 = 54

had 1 place then 2 place then 1 place

So of our 54 lines we still have 6 lines live

The quadpot will probs pay out about a fiver so if we placed 2 we would have 4 winning lines so get £4 x 5 as our dividend

We will sort one tomorrow morning if your up, the traditional place pot.

The problem is that we have had 54 lines and were only likely to get 1 or 2 lines as winners now.
You need multiple places in each race to keep more lines live.

The value comes when you have a few races where the two favourites dont place.
Loads of people get knocked out the pool and if your still in your equity can x10.

I normally do a 64 line place pot to 50p a line so cost £32, get a couple where both horses place and your getting double what it pays to the £1
Few favourites not placing and they pay about £250, get most favourites not placing and they can pay a bag or more to the £1

Its great for cheap multiple sweats and the comedy of betting £32 and getting 4 winning lines to see it pay £7 to the £1

Based on yesterday's results at Newmarket, if u have somethin in the Cambridgeshire u'll be lookin for somethin to come down either rail (avoid the middle) ....yesterday there was a clear bias towards the lowly drawn horses who break well and make the pace...high draw untested but should have adv over those in the middle. I'll only be havin a small fun bet on it coz too many cul-de-sacs to trap u in runnin.

7% of the roll relates to day 1 and there were 8 people in day 1 so you get 0.875% of any cash out

I am off to a wedding in just over an hour.

If everyone wants to pick a short priced football match, horse, basketball or volleyball event this afternoon I will get a bet on before we go.

If no one is about then I suggest Eso puts something together that accumulates to about 20/1 so we would have doubled the investment.

Stu is out but from a quick skim 11 were in on 2nd day and Stu said that equaled 90%.
So if you were in on day 2 = approx 9%
day 1 = approx 1%

Poss a treble on the midweek footie then a small treble over the weekend finishing with a Bopkin Volleyball inside info selection!!

I'm not too bothered how we attempt to spin up the remainder.
If you've got anything you fancy during the week I'd suggest it on the thread.
If we're still alive come Friday morning we can worry about the weekend then.
Although it matters less now most people have got their money back I don't want to post another selection as I was gutted when mine was the only one not winning on Saturday. I was much more bothered losing other peoples money rather than my own. I'll just follow with interest.

Obviously nothing to do with me because I'm not in but here's my opinion as an interested spectator.

You've got 2k to play with.

Whoever made the 6 selections on Saturday gets to do it again for the next 4 saturdays as they are clearly heroes of the highest order.

£500 a time approx 20 to 1 accumulator which has to culminate with a Hopkin volleyball selection obviously.

4 chances at a 10k paiiiii daiiiii.

Title: Re: Newmarket Jackpot

I think its smaller than that Matt.  everyone is getting ~ £200 back and we are spinning up the chump change I think?

in which case, it should definitely be an aggressive punt, not an odds-on treble.

I like over 45 bookings points in the Bayern Munich vs Man City match tonight at 11/10 with Corals.  Both teams have players who dont mind taking a fall and also the ref can be very card happy so it has the makings of a 5 yellows+ or 3 yellows and a red.

Oh cock, sorry..didn't noitce the draw no bet bit...wondered why you only got 5-6 on Zenit but hadn't checked footie prices in depth at all today :)

Title: Re: Newmarket Jackpot
Post by: Horneris on September 28, 2011, 04:36:38 PM
I tipped up Zenit to Guy @ 2.25 (the price it was when I went to bed and got on), didn't know it had been pounded in to odds on.

The value has gone but I pray it wins, Porto not the same this season without AVB and failed to score at Fieurense last week. Zenit top of the league, very strong european record at home in recent years and Russia always a difficult place to go.

Post by: Horneris on September 28, 2011, 04:37:25 PM
They are not as strong as they were a couple of years ago but couldn't have them as .6 outsiders at home to Porto.

dude as you know, i dont know my gambling - providing they dont lose its all gravy - i wasnt looking for "value" per se

I  think most euro teams at home are safe enough

My selection on the footie tonight is Shaktar Donestsk to beat Apoel

Boring but not a lot of choice me thinks tonight

god bless the bookies who've been pricing shakhtar wrong at home for the last 2 1/2 seasons

Yeah top half of the list done, got bored and had to do some work though so will send the rest tomorrow.
HSBC transfers, so most should get instantly unless you bank with the National Bank of Iran.
Will get the remainder sorted tomorrow.

Still waiting for a couple of peoples details. Thought someone wanted Stars, but not been sent a username.

Let me know
