Post by: ForthThistle on September 27, 2011, 01:26:03 AM
I need to post this. Please help me understand.

Final Table with 10 Players. there is £18.3K to play for.
This is the 3rd Hand of the final Table.
Blinds are 8K and 16K with a 1K ante

I shoved the first hand UTG but got it through.
The Hand
Mp guy's shoves for 119K.
I have 133K on the button,
I look down on the button with 77 and tank shove. (I need to Double up)
The SB has 500K and tanks and tanks and calls.
BB gets out of the way.

Cards over and as follows.
Mp - 6d6c
Me - 7s7d
SB - Qh10h

This is for a 375K pot.

Flop is Ks 10c 5s
Turn is 9s
River 10d

Is the SB call Bad cal.

Opinions Please.

Normally its a bad call.......but probably the right call for that player.  If he is bad enough to be making this call he probably should be taking these types of gambles to get chips (and probably has been to get there).  Ironically he probably doesnt realize he should probably be taking these gambles to get chips and just see's a suited almost connected hand and thinks its pretty and "puts you on AK or a small pair"

I know you are gutted, but why does this matter?

"....Is the SB call Bad cal....."

We can't do a thing about what our man decides to do, ever. And, over time, surely we want bad calls?

Hope you get the lot next time.

Well played Davy and very unlucky, that said I don't think it's that bad a call considering the potential ranges. Maybe if you  pushed quicker and not slow rolled your 77 he might have folded :) :) :)

yueh he said something about having to gamble for a stack, so curious what he would have flicked it in with.

You don't have to have that strong a hand in this spot - just something that you fancy up against what should be a very wide range from original shover. If I'm BB here I call but OTOH I haven't won anything for 19 years or so.

Also agree that the tank shove would generally suggest some weakness rather than strength. I'd have no idea what original shover had but call anyway, I'd put you on something like you had and call anyway.
