Title: Played it like a set, but what to do now? Post by: cambridgealex on October 05, 2011, 02:18:53 PM 3 handed 50/1 at Alea. Button limps, SB folds I raise 6h 6s to £5. Button calls.
5s 6d 7c I bet £7, He raises to £17, I raise to £45, he calls. 9h ??? Pot is £100 I have £120 back. My read was that he has a 2pair+ all the time here. he raises pre probably so ruling out other sets. Think he'd click back the flop with 89 but he might just flat. 34 and 84 he'd play like this on the flop as well as all 2 pairs. Not sure how likely he is to raise 87, 86 on the flop. He didn't seem the type to semi bluffs combo draws. So I thought the 9 didn't really make any difference, thought he either had two pair, 34 or 84, perhaps 89. With that in mind, I believe a shove gets all worse hands to fold and achieves nothing. If I check, I potentially set up a leveling spot where if he barrels I don't know whether he's betting worse and I might potentially get bluffed off the best hand. I thought if I bet small then I might get value from his two pairs and if he shoves sigh call it off and get there? Does my thought process sound reasonable? WWYD? Now though I don't really know either. Looking forward to responses.

Anychance he plays 78 this way? But yeah, I'm seeing a river whatever the action, I like to check here Title: Re: Played it like a set, but what to do now? Post by: pleno1 on October 05, 2011, 05:23:31 PM c/f i guess depending on the guy
you're in bb? i probably make it £10 pre or just check, 90% of the time I would check. flop i probably make it 52 so i can tank shove lots of turns. i Title: Re: Played it like a set, but what to do now? Post by: skolsuper on October 05, 2011, 05:43:39 PM All fine so far, bet £40 call it off now

and amount where he calls some, can still bluff and that prices us in to call him off when he jams Title: Re: Played it like a set, but what to do now? Post by: pleno1 on October 06, 2011, 11:27:56 AM doubt he will ever bluff with pts ratio?
Title: Re: Played it like a set, but what to do now? Post by: SuuPRlim on October 06, 2011, 11:36:52 AM I've seen it happen, this would be my reason to bet £40 over £60 imo
Title: Re: Played it like a set, but what to do now? Post by: cambridgealex on October 06, 2011, 01:08:17 PM He wasn't really the bluffing type at all, expected him to bluff close to 0% of the time.
Regardless, I went for the Keys/Lildave line and bet £40, called the rest off and bricked vs 8d 4d Title: Re: Played it like a set, but what to do now? Title: Re: Played it like a set, but what to do now? Post by: lolwutwasthat on October 06, 2011, 05:31:54 PM Preflop play is superstandard. flop is opponent dependant, i cbet
With this type of hand like90%+ but against a decent oponent i check some % for balance, this is a gr8 hand for balancing ur handrange vs a thinkin opponent oop when ur the aggressor. Cbet sizing is fine, once we get raised we have to have to put our opponent on a hand range. How do we do this? Well frstly is our opponent aggro/passive, if hes passive he isnt going to raise with air/draws, if hes aggro he can easily have an85%+ range here given hes got position. So ur decision on whether to call/3bet flop depends on player type. But as played once u3bet flop n get called it really narrows his hand range down alot. A passive Opponent is going to have 55/34/48/89/67/56/57/77/88/7x/8x n some pair+draws at worst. So given u have 66 it makes him way less likely for him to have 2pair or a 68 hand. Since ur playin live, u have tonnes of time To analyse hand combos. 6combos of sets, 9combos of 57, 6combos of 88, 16combos of 34,16combos of 48, 16combos of 89 and alot of combos vs pair+draws this means its more likely he is holdin a flopped str8 or a pair+draw than onepair + 2pairs. So now the turn is a 9... Board runs out 5679... Against an aggro opponent we can chk call, against a passive/standrd player=c/f as hr never has air on the flop and will chk bk all 2pairs...n plus as i said earlier, theres less combos of2pairs than the rest. Against a thinkin player, which i dont think he is if he limps btn, i wud Shove for value... And for those who will be like blahblah tldr...they can Go eff themselves, i didnt write this for u guys :) Basically i think we adjust our player to player types as they have different tendencies and hand ranges Title: Re: Played it like a set, but what to do now? Post by: Rupert on October 06, 2011, 05:34:55 PM depends on bet size but check/fold is probably best to most sizes (w my assumptions about alea 0.50/1 players)
