Title: Frankel Post by: Biddy 62 on October 16, 2011, 12:28:50 PM Mighty impressive, but i don't get this best horse we've ever seen.
Title: Re: Frankel Post by: mondatoo on October 16, 2011, 12:36:23 PM I thought that was Sea of the Stars.
Title: Re: Frankel Post by: kukushkin88 on October 16, 2011, 12:42:42 PM I thought that was Sea of the Stars. Two very different horses. Frankel is a miler, Sea the Stars 1m4f. Might have been a good race over 1m2f with more and more reason to think Frankel will stay , I´d go 4/7 Frankel. Title: Re: Frankel Post by: TightEnd on October 16, 2011, 12:48:42 PM Impossible to compare across eras
Loved Dancing Brave, personally. Title: Re: Frankel Post by: doubleup on October 16, 2011, 12:58:25 PM Well what would you expect "the best horse we've ever seen" to do? Title: Re: Frankel Post by: Biddy 62 on October 16, 2011, 02:03:04 PM Beat older horses for a start. Nice to see Dancing brave and Sea the stars mentioned, my thoughts exactly.
Title: Re: Frankel Post by: Josedinho on October 16, 2011, 02:10:10 PM Pretty sure Katchit is the GOAT
Title: Re: Frankel Post by: kukushkin88 on October 16, 2011, 02:31:44 PM Pretty sure Katchit is the GOAT Compared to the other three mentioned Katchit isn´t the GOAT, he´s a goat. Title: Re: Frankel Post by: doubleup on October 16, 2011, 02:52:42 PM Beat older horses for a start. Nice to see Dancing brave and Sea the stars mentioned, my thoughts exactly. Its last 3 races have been against older horses. At the moment he has a rating of 135, the same as Sea the Stars and easily confirmed yesterday that he is at least as good as that rating. I never thought I'd see a better horse than Sea the Stars in my life time...it's simply frightening how good Frankel is and lovely to see he stays in training next year. Title: Re: Frankel Post by: redarmi on October 16, 2011, 04:18:49 PM As nice as it is to see Frankel in training next year it seems a ridiculously bad business decision to me.
Title: Re: Frankel Post by: boldie on October 16, 2011, 04:28:09 PM As nice as it is to see Frankel in training next year it seems a ridiculously bad business decision to me. Well, it's a tricky one. He would add a bit to his value if he becomes the best over a mile and a bit (1M2f maybe even 1m4?) as well. I hate seeing horses retired when they are only 3 as they have not yet shown their full potential (Like a footie player retiring at 21'ish). Khalid Abdullah wants everyone to know that Frankel is the best race horse in the world ever and I reckon you can only really prove that if you keep horses in training past their 2nd year. He will probably have a big international season next year (I'd expect him to go to international next year and plunder everything abroad) and, if he keeps winning, there then shouldn't be any doubt over which horse is best in the world (not that there is any now IMO). That could add a few pennies to his value. Maybe 2 runs in Brittain next year and the rest of his races abroad? Title: Re: Frankel Post by: Biddy 62 on October 16, 2011, 04:28:53 PM I know what your saying, look at Workforce.
Title: Re: Frankel Post by: Biddy 62 on October 16, 2011, 04:32:29 PM Whats this 3/1 about him never getting beat?
Title: Re: Frankel Post by: redarmi on October 16, 2011, 04:35:59 PM Sea The Stars commands Euro85k at stud and covered 140 mares in his first nine months or so. Thats E12m for his first year which I suppose they could potentially make up in value as he only really needs to increase his value by 10% of so to make it wash its face as a decision but what happens if the horse breaks down? You have lost literally £100m and if it gets beat you have lost a fair bit too. I may be overstating it all a bit I suppose because Sea The Stars is out of Urban sea who has really proven herself as a dam whereas don't know much about Frankels dam but even so it just seems a massive risk.
Title: Re: Frankel Post by: boldie on October 16, 2011, 04:38:09 PM Yeah know what you're saying red and you're obv right. I'm just delighted that he's in training next year and would like to think I'd do the same as Khalid Abdullah (Though I'd need to have as much money as him first)
the 3-1 to stay unbeaten is obv a joke of a price. Title: Re: Frankel Post by: treefella on October 16, 2011, 07:42:33 PM Hardly a massive risk. The horse will be insured for his net worth and Abdullah not exactly short of a few quid. Fair play to them for keeping flat racing alive : )
Title: Re: Frankel Post by: Karabiner on October 16, 2011, 10:19:59 PM I think the main reason why I'm so delighted that Frankel will race as a 4-y-o is that he is still obviously maturing and thus improving too and his owner thankfully can afford to let his love of racing and his desire to see the horse fulfill it's potential outweigh the immediate financial rewards.
Brigadier Gerard was the best miler that I have ever seen and he achieved a Timeform mark of 144. I would not be at all surprised to see Frankel surpass this next year should he stay sound. The highest rating that Timeform ever awarded was 145 to Sea Bird II, winner of the 1965 Derby and Arc. To put these ratings into context, Sea The Stars achieved a rating of 140. Title: Re: Frankel Post by: mondatoo on October 16, 2011, 10:23:55 PM My favourite horse is Kauto coz he made me the most money :)

Ten years before I was born but I have heard it said that Sea Bird was just amazing. I would like to see them send Frankel to the Breeders though. Beat the best everywhere. |
