Title: EPT San Remo thread
Post by: TightEnd on October 21, 2011, 10:04:03 AM
EPT San Remo 1a begins at 2pm today

Poker has been running wild through Europe in October. After the European Poker Tour's successful stop in London, the circus moves on to Italy, where the EPT San Remo series kicks off with the €4,900 Main Event on Friday.

Last season at San Remo, Rupert Elder bested a field of 988 players to claim his first EPT title and a top prize of €930,000. Elder defeated German pro Max Heinzelmann, who finished runner-up for the second straight EPT Main Event. Other former winners at San Remo include Constant Rijkenberg and Team PokerStars Pros Jason Mercier and Liv Boeree, who collected €1,250,000 for her title in 2010.

This thread for news, nightly updates etc

Good luck to dreenie, as per the staking thread on here...Rupert no doubt defending his title and all the other blondes who have decamped from Cannes across the border

Day 1b of the 2011 PokerStars.it EPT San Remo Main Event concluded on Saturday. The second starting flight attracted 477 players, to grow the total field to 837, and generate a prize pool worth €3,734,694. Right around 200 players hit the rail and after the first eight levels of play, Day 1b was topped by Taylor Paur. He bagged up 188,200 in chips and will take the overall chip lead into Day 2. Brandon Cantu finished with 180,000 and is hot on his heels.

The tournament room was very alive all day long and plenty of notables were in the mix, as always. Team PokerStars Pro was very well represented with likes of Johnny Lodden, Vanessa Selbst, Fatima Moreira de Melo, Salvatore Bonavena, Sandra Naujoks, Matthias De Meulder and Eugene Katchalov. All of those stars have advanced to Day 2 as well their teammate, and former EPT San Remo champion, Liv Boeree.

In April of 2010, Boeree captured this very title and the €1,250,000 first-place prize that went along with it. She's still ticking in the event and will be doing all she can on Sunday to make a second San Remo title become a reality.

Other notable players surviving the day were Bryn Kenney, Melanie Weisner, Michael Benvenuti, Nick Yunis, McLean Karr, Ted Forrest and Anton Wigg. The newly crowned 2011 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event champion Elio Fox is also moving on.

Those who are out of the running for this Main Event include Jamie Rosen, Shawn Buchanan, Jake Cody, Martins Adeniya, Eddy Sabat, Matt Waxman, Patrik Antonius and James Mitchell.

the top 128 spots will be paid out. Just squeaking into the money will earn a player €7,000, but they're all gunning for the €800,000 top prize that will be handed to the winner

lol he had a bit of a run in with Kevin MacPhee

MacPhee on twitter : I fold 30 hands straight down to 530k then shove 9 bbs in the sb and @barnyboatman calls off with Q7s?!? Is this guy fucking retarded?

...and great response from     http://twitter.com/#!/IanTurpie

I've seen some retarded plays in my time, and folding 34 hands straight as the SS at an FT is right up there...

Kevin can obv play but seems like a really ridic bad loser. He said the same when called BoB by K9 suited on the UKIPT. You have to expect people's ranges to be wide open. Barney probs knows he's shoving any 2 (as evidenced by the fact he shows up with 6 high) so I think his Q7 call is fine although I wouldn't argue against a fold either

seems very c**tish from macphee the hand isnt bad at all, a little light but not terrible. I had a run in with him once on full tilt, we were 3 handed in a 20r and he accused me of collusion because i was avoiding him and playing pots vs the clown, hes just a dick full stop

He's an absolute cock - played with him in one of the sides at EPT, actually bust him - aloof, superior, arrogant - just a tool.  I can safely say, having met a load of the UK younger guys that play who are just so unassuming and friendly - he is the exception.  Agree with ^^^^Dubais comment
