Title: Spare seat in Bubble Tournament for grabs
Post by: AlrightJack on June 15, 2005, 05:02:52 PM
This Sunday there is another Blue Square Bubble freeroll taking place at 8pm.  Its a 9 player event with a $2,000 prize pool.  The only way into this tournament is to bubble at a Grosvenor Festival event, or at the recent tournament we ran for Birmingham University's Poker Society.  Well, thats not strictly true, ocassionally some people cannot take up their seats due to prior commitments and ocassionally we have the odd space or two left over as well -  so basically it boils down to who santa feels like gifting it to at the time the place needs to get filled.

Well, this one currently has a spare seat so rather than get my white beard out again I thought I'd offer it to the forum.  So, to win this seat please complete the following tiebreaker.

I should get the spare seat in the Blue Square Bubble Boy Tournament because...

Answers no more than 20 words please and should be submitted by noon (GMT) Thursday. If there is no clear best response a forum vote will take place.

Note - P4C are already represented in this tournament so no further P4C applications will be accepted as this would unfairly sway the outcome due to the pressure of giving the seat to a good cause...however this doesn't stop whoever moneys in it from donating any of their winnings to P4C afterwards...

I should get the spare seat for the bubble tournament because...  i'm not in vegas (boohoo), i'm available to play, and i'm fun  ;D   Bring on the challengers!

as it is on at the same time as the WSOP qualifier, i reckon the seat should go to Mpower, or simon zach as they already qualified, with the proviso that any winnings they get go to P4C.

I should get the seat in the Blue Square Bubble tournament because....

I won't be tied up in the WSOP qualifier, and I'd like to prove to Ironside that it wasn't a fluke against fish !

I should get the spare seat for the bubble tournament because...

"Bluesq.com has the best internet poker site in existence and all their representatives are amongst the nicest and most intelligent blokes i have ever met".

hopefully this blatant brown - nosing has just secured me the seat.

I should get the spare seat in the Blue Square Bubble Boy Tournament because...

Having done my nuts in the Betfair BB market I cannot afford to play the WSOP qualifier anymore.

and because I just remembered to post this in time !

owner

Also did my nuts on a BB eviction market a couple of weeks ago so know how you're feeling.  Please get in touch via email to arrange the seat.

Thanks to everyone who participated.

whay we can talk trains (train spotting died out in the 1890s) but can talk popular culture like who is getting kicked out the bb house the tory or the tart (hum thought they went together)

and we arent event talking BB we are talking the betting market

Title: Re: Spare seat in Bubble Tournament for grabs

Thats better AlrightJack. BB via PM, Trains on the open Forum. Gotta cater for demand.

Title: Re: Spare seat in Bubble Tournament for grabs
Post by: AlrightJack on June 16, 2005, 01:21:58 PM
How about a dedicated BB thread that can easily be avoided by anyone not interested and an agreement not to bring it up on any other threads?  Then we'd properly be catering for demand.

I'd wager that we get more posts on a BB thread than a railway one.

Post by: tikay on June 16, 2005, 01:34:49 PM
Alright Jack, NOOOOOOO....

But seriously, we are about to remodel the blonde Forum, to give it more sections.

So if the children wanna discuss BB & the like, they can till their hearts content. And you'll be relieved to know I wont contribute. And there will be a section for the grown ups, so folks can talk about trains and interesting stuff.

Theres no accounting for taste you know. Thewy reads the Daily Mail. The Daily Mail, FFS!

Title: Re: Spare seat in Bubble Tournament for grabs
Post by: AdamM on June 16, 2005, 01:38:41 PM
please dont add too many options. I like the simplicity of tounament / general.

I hate boards where ther's 10 different catagories to negotiate. If it ain't broke...

Title: Re: Spare seat in Bubble Tournament for grabs
Post by: AlrightJack on June 16, 2005, 01:41:55 PM
The Daily Mail! Thats worth 2 red cards, with the terms run consecutively.

Title: Re: Spare seat in Bubble Tournament for grabs
Post by: owner on June 16, 2005, 01:42:07 PM
Cheers AlrightJack, I'll send you a mail - have to download your client first though !!

I'm staying clear of BB eviction markets for a while (you just can't trust the GBP), still got some nice green on the overall though.

And just for Tikay, I went on a lovely little narrow gauge steam train on Saturday.

So there a post with BigBrother AND trains, everbody's happy.

Title: Re: Spare seat in Bubble Tournament for grabs
Post by: tikay on June 16, 2005, 01:43:24 PM
As it happens, I agree 100% with YOU Adam on this. But the demand seems to suggest we need more sections. many genuine friends of blonde have told me privately we ought to have more sections, even El Blondie agrees with that, not that it's got owt to do with him, he could not even win his Final last night, so who's he to comment? There will not be many, I promise. May even be one on Poker.

adam the problem is at the moment there is 2 options LIVE tourny updates and general

the forum needs tourny reports, so that they dont get mixed up with the live updates

here is no need for 10-12 categories but there is need for 5-6

Tikay,

I once made a short film about the Shipley Glen tramway. You know it? Its the world's oldest working cable tramway.

agreed...an "off-topic" board for anything non-poker related from trains through BB etc, together with Tourney updates, tourney reports seperately, general poker discussion, maybe player profiles

that should tidy things up nicely and make it more navigable

Just for Tikay ...... when i lived in burnley, every time friends and family came to see us we took them to Howarth, home of the Bronte sisters, and a lovely steam railway line, and Howarth was where they filmed the station shots for the railway children :)

Ironside, thats sounds ok. I don't spend alot of time in tournaments anyway, unless someone I know is running particularly well.
I se the need to seperate results and live reports, but shouldn't we be making more use of the main site for reports and results? then again, i suppose it gets stuff up quick doing it on the forum.

as long as the new webbo tidys up the articles section on the main site that's make my day.

AlrightJack, trains are not a matter about which you should joke, they have influenced the whole fabric of society, & were a fine example of Victorian Engineering at it's best, particularly ISK & the GWR. And have you ever admired the eighth wonder of the world that is St Pancras Station?

At the Quainton railway centre, near Aylesbury there is upwards of 30 engines in varying stages of renovation together with a number of working locomotives. If you ever get the chance it is a good day out

IF you are ever down on Devon the Exmoor railway between Ilfracombe and Barnstaple has a narrow gauge railway in operation in addition to two monstrous black engines freshly imported from South Africa where they were used on the high veldt. They will cost an arma and a leg to restore but are quite magnificient.

TightEnd,

I am primarily interested only in GWR stock, do they have any in Aylesbury?

As to Devon, if I am not mistaken, the line you mention was the site of the world's first ever atmospheric railway. This is a fascinating subject, & here is a website which mentions it, well worth a visit.

http://mikes.railhistory.railfan.net/r027.html

Ironside. The Main Site has been a bit neglected the last month for technical reasons, (which is why I have majored on the Forum), but it's getting back up to speed now, it's got streaming video & all sorts, & from Monday, if you want to read Tournament Reports, Results & Articles, you will have to go there, because I will not be putting them on the Forum any more.

Kev - FINAL WARNING! As it happens, I have spent many happy days at Kings Cross, even though it's only crappy LMS, but thats not what you were suggesting, now is it?

So, returning to the original subject matter, the Blue Square.com Bubble Tourney.

I was the grateful recipitent of the Blue Square Bubble Envelope in Southampton, containing an invite to the Bubble tourney.

I am unable to play it, so with Jonathan's approval, I have passed it on to a young lady by the name of Jo Handman. Jo is part of the blondepoker backroom team, looking afte legal, financial & contractual stuff amongst other things. A blonde as well, in blondepoker tradition. Many of you may know Jo, she plays mainly in London, at Gutshot & The Vic, mostly cash, but tourneys as well, and she has a formidable game in both.

But heres the good news. Jo has said that anything she wins in the Blue Square Bubble Comp will go straight to Poker4Charity.

Thank you Jo!

Blondeites may wish to join me in wishing Jo a Happy Birthday for today, as she is celebrating her 46th birthday.

What a heartless soul I am, winding her up like that, though it never got passed Ironside or AJ.. And only this morning, when she was "down" because she had reached the grand old age of 36, I tried to reassure her by telling her I had 20 years start on her. She said "really, I'm amazed, I thought you were about 45"......

Lovely girl, eh?
