Title: Next England manager?
Post by: anthonyl on November 09, 2011, 01:39:52 PM
Who will it be? Will it really be redknapp? Health could play a part. Can't see any other suitable English candidate! I know he is northern Irish but Brendan rogers would do me, plays football the right way.

Please not pardew or Pearce.

It's amazing just how strong media propaganda is bearing in mind everyone wants a manager who has won 1 FA cup in his whole career. Pretty laughable but not my place to ruin a great English story

Isn't it only like 2/3 English managers that have won anything since Brian Little?

How many English managers can be classed as successful in the last 20 years?

We're in a cycle now. Englishman with domestic trophy as his career highlight has to follow Foreigner with success.
Just need to run out of both of those willing to take the job before we can move on to ex-player with no experience.

Hasn't the issue lately been a surplus of pride, passion and hope?

What we need is someone to bring back the skills, commitment and some luck.

What about thinking outside the box and bringing someone in from outside football. Footballers generally are going to have sub average intelligence which makes them far less suitable for managerial and leadership roles than the average member of society. Why not bring in someone with a more scientific approach? Film out in US called moneyball which relates to this although baseball is very statistics based compared to football.  But bringing in someone smart, analytical and capable of motivation is surely smarter than bringing in an over hyped market boy full of cliches such as Redknapp.

This country loves reality tv nonsense so why not make the England managers role an open job, televise interviews etc. Sure Mr Cowell and Fullee could sort it out. Have public votes haha

Was thinking I'd risk the poison chalice for the 5m or so a year u get paid when 90% of your games you go off odds on anyway. How hard can it be, " er lads you are playing against Andorra, the goalie is a train driver and their centre forward a milkman. Just do what u want cos you are 1-66 for a reason"

Level ? He hates us and makes no secret of it, no way he'd ever want to manage England over staying at Man U.

Give Clarky the job.

For me, it should be a rule that the manager has to be from the country too. He is arguably the most important "player" anyway so why allow the manager to be from a different country? Can't help but think even if we shipped a major trophy with Capello in charge it wouldn't be the same if Redknapp or God forbid Warnock or Pardew were in charge

Pretty much.  Form for a 1/3 of a season and nothing of note.

Also this time next year Sam Allardyce, Ian Holloway or Nigel Adkins might be the highest placed English Manager in Prem, so do they take there turn in being mentioned as next boss.

It just shows how few there are to choose from, someone try and list 3 English managers that have the credentials ?

Any good foreign manager that would take the job would be insane imo.

minimum of three pints.

of vodka.

through a straw.

please god, anyone but that complete wanker redknapp.

genuinely would welcome Steve McClaren back with open arms before I wanted to see 'Arry the ***** in the job.

wow Nigel Adkins probably would be the best choice. And 18 months ago he was managing Scunthorpe United.

Its like Mike Bassett, he was in the Championship with Norwich when he got the job by default.

Would like to see Warnock get it personally, would be comedy.

yeah and prior to taking over from Brian Laws when times were good Nige was our physio. The first chant was "Who needs Mourinho, We've got our physio". As  a scouser he has a great sense of humour and good at motivating players to perform to the best of their ability at all times.

I've just finished reading gazzas new book and what he mentions is the team unity England had when he played. Carragher just touched on it there by saying throughout his whole England career he never felt there was ever a great team spirit within the ranks.

Technically you are miles behind the other top seeds but a good team mentality and hard graft can lessen The gap...England haven't had either for a long time. If the manager must be English Redknapp is the Only option IMO...he could get that back...BUT he probably is the best of a bad bunch. If I were English I wouldn't be totally opposed to another foreign manager provided they were the type to get that back...mourinho could(but doubt there's any chance of getting him) or hiddink could also IMO and would be a great appointment.

Ps still think hoddle really fvcked England over leaving gazza behind in 98
