Title: Live Hand from Vegas #2 Post by: Rod on November 23, 2011, 01:18:46 PM Game is $1/$2 at The Venitan. I start the hand with just over $200. Opponent covers me.
Table is playing loose and passive. Only read I have on my opponent in this hand is that he limps a lot and made a decent sized bluff on the river in one pot earlier. In this hand he is the SB. No real read on other player. I get dealt AJ and there are two limpers ahead of me. I make it $12 to go, two caller's including the SB. Flop is A-8-3 (with a flush draw) Checks to me and I bet $25, SB calls, other player folds. The turn pairs the board with another 3. SB checks I Check. River is a 10. Villan bets out $60. I call. Anything different or better I can do in this hand? Title: Re: Live Hand from Vegas #2 Post by: Solaris on November 23, 2011, 01:29:10 PM NH, wp.
I assume the 10 doesn't complete the flush, of course. Title: Re: Live Hand from Vegas #2 Post by: boldie on November 23, 2011, 01:32:15 PM No probs with this at all.
Blatant "I'm in Vegas brag BTW" Title: Re: Live Hand from Vegas #2 Post by: cambridgealex on November 23, 2011, 02:35:30 PM Pretty much always betting the turn without a good reason not to. You get called by Ax and fds and are almost always in front.
Turn check might induce a river bluff or get you paid on the river, but I'd be trying to get 3streets here. Title: Re: Live Hand from Vegas #2 Post by: pleno1 on November 23, 2011, 02:47:39 PM 3 streets is too thin imo, also the viollain donked turn no?

No, turn was check check. live cash ppl will paiiiii 3 streets with worse aces all the time. River is a sigh, he has AT a bunch, never folding though. Title: Re: Live Hand from Vegas #2 Post by: rfgqqabc on November 23, 2011, 04:18:54 PM No reason not to go for three streets- 84 in pot and a bet of 60, you can't fold
Title: Re: Live Hand from Vegas #2 Post by: muckthenuts on November 23, 2011, 04:55:56 PM bet turn
Title: Re: Live Hand from Vegas #2 Post by: SuuPRlim on November 23, 2011, 06:06:04 PM 3 streets is too thin imo not in a vegas 1/2 cash game it isnt. bet the turn. bet the river, you can do it with A9 and A8 as well prolly lol Although I like your line a LOT - I've noticed a really passive tendancy you maybe have to not ever bet in thinish spots, this proly wont matter here but if you take more passive value lines like this too often it polarizes your turn betting range massively and its going to be very hard to bluff turns vs good players because such a high % of your range is going to pot control most turns Title: Re: Live Hand from Vegas #2 Post by: pleno1 on November 23, 2011, 08:24:13 PM i didnt see the turn card, its the abs nut card and im going for 3, but thought there was too many run outs to get 3 here normally. but this is abs gin for you.
Title: Re: Live Hand from Vegas #2 Post by: Rod on November 25, 2011, 03:47:03 PM Cool
I thought I had played it right but that's why it's always worth asking. Will make sure I work on extracting more value with this kind of hand also had not thought about my turn range being to polarized but yes this is probably true. I lost the hand when he showed a set of sixes and I thought I had done well (ROT ftw). So betting the turn is a far better line in this kind of spot. Thanks again.
