Title: 1/2 Cahs hand 2
Post by: david3103 on December 05, 2011, 03:51:17 PM
Same game as hand 1, but a little later...

The table seems to have settled into a routine where either everybody limps in, or there's a war preflop. There has been a lot of aggression and also a lot of folding on the river when a 3bet is called with second pair....
Three players in particular are battling it out and two of them are UTG+1 and UTG+2 so here I am UTG with  Ks Qh and I elect to limp and see what happens...

Seven of us see a flop of  Ahrt Jd Tc..............

I'm UTG, wtf do I do now?

spolier - this all ends very happily but it didn't feel like I controlled it at all and I wondere how the better players would have handled it

I'd never limp pre here, fold > limp > raise imho. Presumably you have at least 100 bigs and the pot is £14. 3 pot size bets with one caller only get 182 in the middle. I think checking here is fine, there are lots of good cards and its the easiest way to get lots of money in. I guess i'd c/c or c/r small but it depends on how many people are in the pot and how they play etc

The problem with limping utg is this inadvertently smacks your range (cause limp utg is always aces yo), and if players are calling in position, it probs misses them completely. Check and let a card come off, hopefully get some value from a flush draw or turned small set etc. Call if someone bets ldo check/raise looks massive.

Raise-fold > fold > limp pre

limping to call a raise is fine, opening is fine, folding isn't even terrible imo but I would never EVER fold lol (fucking love king queen :P ) I'd prefer to just open it personally, staccks aren't too shallow and its just nicer to plaay high value hands with initiative because you get less credit on boards that you smash, like this board for example OBVIOUSLY as the early PFR you're going to bet this flop lol

just bet now, chk raising lets people make hero folds and chases hands like QJ and KT out whereas they might feel "valued in" after a bet and a call, this is the type of board you could well get 3 streets from as well in a generic live game.

People take preflop way too seriously in live games, just dont play terrible hands and remember before a 3 bet how hard it is to actually make a pre flop mistake if you're 100+bbs deep and have decent post flop ability
