Title: JJ
Post by: celtic on December 05, 2011, 08:18:02 PM
1/2 at Luton this morning. 6 handed.

Playing £600. Straddled pot, I open to £14 from utg. Button flats, others fold. Straddle calls. Button is competent & v tight. Normally has nuts or similar. Straddle is gambley and in a £700 hole.

Straddler has £105 back, button £254.

Flop comes  6d 8d 4s

Straddle jams for £105.

Best action for us? Flat to induce the button? Flat to fold if button shoves? Shove to isolate?? Re-assess on turn if button flats? We have the Jd if it makes a difference.

Raise it to £253 and tell the button you aint folding if he shoves.

Flat and call a shove imo

Jamming surely just folds out marginal hands that we crush, nothing that we beat and only maybe average draws?

Can someone tell me why call/call is better than Jam with these stack sizes? To get villian to specifically shove 99/TT. Surely we want to get rid of any potential draws he has on this board?

Prob just flicks it in with any fd's anyway. I think call/fold is definitely possible here if you can soul read the guy too

Understand call/fold but not call/call over a jam. Maybe just cos I'm a tourney donk

Ok, assuming we call. The button flats and we see the Kd.

What now? Jamming? Check calling? check folding?

What hands jam over a call that would fold to a jam that beat us or has us in really bad shape?

Standard jam from me. As celtic says if button calls behind, you leave yourself in an awkward spot should a "scare" card come out. Even an offsuit A/K/Q puts u in a bad spot out of position.

obv a snap jam imo

I jam without too much thought, buddy.

The other options seem... dubious.

While I can imagine a theoretical villian for call/fold, I'm not entirely sure they exist in reality.

Think you should raise more pre.

I prob just go all in on this flop.  If BTN had more than it makes it a bit tricky.  Whatever we do looks strong IMO.

Butchered IMO.

Thanks for all the advice.

For the people saying snap jam> flat/call or flat/fold.  Can you please say why?  Can you give me some examples of hands that fold if we jam but call/shove if we flat that we are not favourites against?
