Genius!

I've pushed the cork into the bottle a few times with a knife when I've been desperate  ;D

Only have champers and stella at my gaff, defo gonna give it a try over crimbo when a bottle of wine turns up. 99% likely to fail after boasting to a load of ppl i can do it without actually ever having tried it. Not sure why, just something I am likely to do. Attempts should defo be recorded and uploaded.

FAIL

Just tried with a nice bottle Rioja.

Wine has frothed up in bottle but cork remained firmly in place, SIGH.

Try staring hard the cork while squeezing the bottle between your thighs. (Sometimes it helps if you cross your eyes or break wind every now and then).

You have to really believe or it won't work.

Tried the shoe thing once years ago.  The sole on my shoe/boot was too thick and soft for it to work, and I nearly ended up knocking down the wall rather than opening the bottle.

I think you need thin-soled shoes, enough to stop the bottle breaking on impact, but thin enough to let the shock of the impact travel through the bottle.  That French bloke in the video has done it a few times before obviously.

I had this problem last week and found a very simple solution on the google that worked well.

Screw a screw into the cork. Remove with claw hammer.
