Title: Line check
Post by: zerofive on December 18, 2011, 05:21:18 AM
Not sure how much I like this but would like thoughts and opinions please. This was pretty late on in the sesh and was getting sort of tired so not sure how clearly i was thinking.

Villain is an okay reg, recreational player, bit of a station by all means. He's winning and confident. Playing £400 we cover (in before accusation of brag post). My image is probably fairly tight as I've only shown down AA and QQ while he's been at the table and not been out of line.

Raise Js Jc UTG to £4 (standard open) one call, villain calls in the hijack, button calls, blinds fold.

Flop (£17.50) 9d 5h 5c

bet £11, fold, villain calls, fold.

Turn (£39.50) 9d 5h 5c Kh

Bet £24, villain calls. Thinking he could possibly have some king high floats on the flop, but way more likely he just "doesn't believe me." Bet sized to get calls from 22-44, 66-TT, 9x, turned flush draws and sometimes Ax

River (£87.50) 9d 5h 5c Kh 6d

Bet £40, villain raises to £100. Bet was designed to look weak to get calls from a bunch of the aforementoned range, but thinking about it is probs too weak and might have invited a raise from the bottom of his range. 87 is distinctly possible, as are a lot of 5x suited hands. Do we think he plays a five like this on the turn? Does my hand look so weak that we have to call here?

I folded but wasn't too happy about it. Anybody play this differently?

think this is a solid fold. I think you get shown a flopped boat a lot. I think a recreational reg would play 99 against someone with your perceived range exactly like this.

ok, so he has to have a range more than he does a single hand, but it's hard for him to have a king and if he's stationy then we expect him to just call the river. When he raises, he just always have 'it', whatever that might be -- which means a bet/fold on the river looks v normal.

Sigh fold. Looks fairly strong to me, like he doesn't need to protect his hand by only raising the river so I expect he has some sort of 5x here.

id check fold the river i think, really can't see a ton of value to betting but you'll always be surprised how you get called in live games, spose if were c/f JJ we should c/f K2 also but its slightly different

Fold looks good to me. Recreational players do not make a habit of bluff raising the river.
