Hey, playing in a $215 Sunday comp, unfortunately don't have the hand history.

Blinds are 60/120/25

Unkown (10k stack) raises to 240 hijac, co call (15k), button`(13kO calls, sb folds, I call  4d 5d from a 17k stack.

Flop is  5h 8d 3c

checked to hijack to bets 500, co/btn fold, I calll

Turn is  8h

I c/raise his 500 bet to 2650, he calls

River is  9h

I jam 6.8 into 6.6

Thoughts?

your hand is dead on the turn - easy fold

the point being, i assume you are trying to rep an 8? Now this sounds daft, if you have limped in MP (hypothetically ofc), then 8's smash your range, however, you have made up the bb, and therefore villain says "atc"

if its me, and I have the over pair, its "god bless him if he has the 8" call

the fact you are in the bb is massive in this hand.

there is no need to get funky this early (milligan84 - please stfu). People dont fold anymore and you are asking alot for him to fold here. Just FPS im afraid!

im not saying "you" because they dont know you. Im saying an MP flatter (whether limp or iso) has more 8's than you do in a made up bb

i think a flatters range is more, 22-99, suited broadways, some suited aces, i think bb range has alot more 8x, just my opinion ofc i could be completely wrong here.

in a cash game unless I had a specific reason to continue i'd muck this hand and think nothing of it, 45s is not a good hand for deepstack play OOP i'm afraid to tell you all.

So in a tournament, where we want to protect our chips even more I can't think of a single good reason to call with it.

I actually think its a very bad call, as in it isn't even close to being anything other than bad. I know I have posted a hand on this board this year where I called in a similar spot really deep in a 5/10 game with  3d 4d but i now think that is equally as terrible.

don't mind your line atall fwiw, p/f some 8X hands in peeling range, small pps etc, & river is really good card to rep as like every draw gets there + boats
river jam polarizes our range but we can't just c/muck & get shown JJ. would you pass turn if his bet sizing is different? think it kinda induces spew

Just c/c turn, I'd go ahead and assume he is bad when he bets this amount ott. I think you still have the best hand enough to call, and I don't want to try to get him to fold overpairs because he's bad and you're repping a narrow value range when he'l assume you'l call close to atc preflop.

In a tournament this a great spot to have an 8 and c/r because nobody ever folds, ergo it is not a good spot to bluff.

I think the turn play is sexy sexy but complete spew because in all my years of trying I have never been able to make anyone fold anything in a tournament.

Just all a bit ego-y I think paddsy, just fold before the flop , fold on the flop and wait till we actually have it till we c/r the turn. You can just make solid money by making good value bets and picking spazzy bluffs off, until good players stroll along and start putting you in coffin's (rarely gonna happen in generic online MTT's) just do that imo and live a profitable stress-free life.

pre is absolutely fine. think fold is bad. I am all for funky cr lines, but not v this wide range 4way srp on a board-pairing turn which probably effects his betting range a lot. also if u were villain and knew the other guy was good, i cant think of a cr value range that has any merit.
