Title: Liiiiine check
Post by: zerofive on December 20, 2011, 03:47:45 AM
50/1 game at Dusk, haven't seen villain showdown many hands yet except obvious value bet spots Tx on T T 2 2 A and AK on A K x x x for example. Can assign him a pretty wide pre-flop peeling range but unsure on his calling habits post flop etc. My image is pretty tight aggressive I imagine, although not sure exactly how much stock he is putting in that level of thinking. Villain is playing £120~ and we cover.

Tight player opens the gun to £4, villain calls, button calls, I call from the small with Th Ts, big blind folds.

Flop (£17) Tc Qc Qd

Checked round.

Turn (£17) Tc Qc Qd 9d

Checked to villain who makes it £6 folds to me I make it £17. Villain calls. I know my line looks ridic strong here but expecting this sort of board will have hit calling ranges. We can argue that leading the turn might be better so that we don't end up with a tiny pot on the river with a massive hand, but my thinking is a lot of hands will bet this turn with any sort of connection and Qx/flush draws/straight draw/straight will defo not bet-fold. Maybe I'm just clicking buttons here, but surely this is the best way to build a pot on the turn?

River (£51) Tc Qc Qd 9d Kc

I bet £37, villain calls. Obviously a lot of stuff gets there, but do recall him exclaiming to an overbet on the river before "nobody ever overbet bluffs" so as much as I love jamming, think he might find a hero fold with a straight or bare queen. I guess my query is flop and turn play. Bet-bet-shove is obviously super sexy, but it's hard to get value from much on the flop.

Feel like a massive fish with the line I've taken, but versus a fish this has to be at least okay. Anybody doing anything different and why?

Bet, Bet, Bet deffo best line imo. Theyre basically not folding any broadway cards that even remotely hit that board inc gutshots and overs etc and a bunch of turns are gonna have them commited to the hand.

Bet, Bet, Bet deffo best line imo.

yeah defo +1 - would 100% bet the turn, as you played though your play is spot on imo, not sure I could result ripping it on the end but £37 works ok imo

We bet and we lose most air and hero underpairs?
But we lose one street of value i guess.

Prefer the taken line but obvs assuming they have a hand to continue.

Can see arguments for both espesh in DTD 50p, 1 quidgames

i think bet/bet/bet is probs my line. If taking your line i'm making it more than £17 OTT, making it more like £23-26... allows shoving the river to become a more realistic option on gin rivers (e.g Kc).
