A bit early maybe but if you're thinking of going to Vegas next Summer there are some great deals available today!  Virgin Atlantic and BA both have a flight and hotel sale on.  Also Expedia have some great hotel only deals - for instance Treasure Island for 14 nts is only £624 (24th June to 8th July) which is an absolute bargain!

Tell them to book another room via Expedia, it'll only cost them another £300 (£75 each) so they won't have to share!

I find  just going direct to the hotel for Harrahs properties and utilising SmarterVegas/Fatwallet is the best way. I've yet to find anything cheaper than this way for all of their properties.

For other hotels using the above sites will often give you deals and if you're putting plenty of play the way of Venetian you can get their poker rate which is good albeit non inclusive of the resort fee.  Booking the rooms via Dave1961 here will get you a slightly more expensive day to day rate which when you factor in tax/resort fees and weekends I think it worked out slightly cheaper for the Venetian @ $180 per night, split between 2 it's for nothing really.

I find that booking hotels this early is not really all that beneficial unless you lock in a sick deal that's unlikely to be bettered and then I still like to make sure it's one which you only pay 1 night that can be cancelled. I normally start booking rooms in January and then discard the ones I won't require closer to the time I am heading out.

Flights on the other hand are a nightmare and I always try to book my flights as early as possible. The sooner you can get them booked the cheaper they are, as Simon Galloway says it's a premium leisure route so the airlines  very rarely give much away and the longer you leave it.

Although it might not matter to most poker players, for the general vegas goers it's worth noting if you fly with Virgin flights are around 700 pre june 23rd and 900 from the 23rd onwards. If you're just going out for a bit of the series or whatever then it's a couple meals or something you could save by going a day early :)

Immigration won't let you in without at least a room for the first night.

Also, roll up to Bally's (for example) looking for a room for that night and you're looking $150+.

Don't you have to put the house address on your ESTA?

Dont think you have to give where your stopping on the ESTA, just on the APFI stuff for the airline.

I've just booked my flights this morning for the summer so went to update my ESTA and you do have to list an address that you're staying at in the US on the form.

And for that reason Marky I will be going to update mine right now  ;whistle;

Meh I have travelled on my ESTA a few times this year and never bothered to update it before going.

Granted 99% of the time they're not even going to look at it, for 30 seconds that it takes I'm not going to not bother doing it.

I don't think you are obliged to update it, I updated my hotel and flight number, but no one else in our group bothered.

Yeah I'd imagine you're right,  I just don't like to take the risk with americans given how awkward and pedantic they can be when it suits :D

Someone has put me on to this site now - www.lowcostusa.co.uk which has some great hotel deals for next Summer, for instance 14 nights at the Cosmopolitan for £1155 (rack rate on Cosmo's website is $179 per night) and if you buy now and pay in £ sterling there is no exchange rate risk.
