Title: Turned flush. What are you doing here? Post by: zerofive on December 23, 2011, 04:08:50 AM 50/1 game at Dusk. Six handed. Two terrible players, two nits, myself and the Maria D.
Have been playing reasonably tight up to this point, but started opening a little wider since we lost some players because I feel very much in control. Obv DMorgan is going to come in straight away and say fold pre, but feel as long as I'm getting past Maria, I'm not going to have any trouble postflop. Maria is villain in this hand, for those that don't know her, she is very capable, tight image but one which she is aware of and will probably abuse, definitely adapted since the table became short handed. She's playing £130~ at the start of the hand and we cover. We open the gun to £4 with the 7s 6s, villain calls, fish calls, blinds fold. Flop (£13.50) 5s 4c 2s We bet £8, villain calls, fish folds. Turn (£29.50) 5s 4c 2s 8s We bet £18, villain raises to £42 with £75 back. We ?? My initial thought is to move it in here, as we can probably get called by straights and turned combos. But moved onto thinking it was way more likely villain was floating a draw heavy board with the intention of taking it away on a decent turn if she thinks we're just barrelling or even if she thinks we have overs or a pair in which case we should flat and check-call the river shove. There is also the slim possibility that we don't have the best hand here, in which case can we chalk it up to a cooler or does anybody strongly consider fold as an option? What are you doing here? Title: Re: Turned flush. What are you doing here? Post by: DMorgan on December 23, 2011, 06:29:56 AM whoa whoa whoa, where did the nit badge come from? fu :D
I can't really think of many hands that Maria would flat on this flop - I'd have expected her to raise her bigger flopped flush draws, sets and 2 pair hands and I can't really see her having too much 3x here unless she is turning 34 into a bluff on the turn but that might be a bit far-fetched. Apart from that its overpairs that flatted pre , 67 and floats, mainly I guess Ax w/As hands which could feasibly raise the turn. I just don't see this ever really being a bluff. I think 88, 99 and TT that turned a spade draw, As semibluffs and straights make up pretty much all of Maria's range here. I guess she will have flatted a bigger flush draw some of the time but if she has then nh. Can't really see there being any pure air in her range on the turn because its just such a weird board to float vs an UTG raising range. If she did really float the flop to bluff on draw-completing turns then wp, peeled the nut card for it but I think thats probably a bit far-fetched also. So yeah basically almost her entire range is value that you beat and semi bluffs - none of which is folding so jammmmmm Title: Re: Turned flush. What are you doing here? Post by: redarmi on December 23, 2011, 06:31:34 AM Never folding and definitely shoving now. This. If a spade comes on the river you could get put in a horrible spot by a capable player irrespective of whether she has a hand. Title: Re: Turned flush. What are you doing here? Then, around 15 minutes later, i would come to the conclusion she always has a value hand here and would move in. If she has a flush congratulate her with a cuddle, if not take her money and commiserate her with a cuddle. Everybody wins. Title: Re: Turned flush. What are you doing here?
