Title: Should we find a fold here
Post by: Killerkilsby on January 01, 2012, 09:15:29 PM
Ok live £50 tournament at Aspers Northampton.

Hero Stack: 13500

Villain Stack: 14000

Blinds are 50/100.

UTG Opens to 300 (Spewy Player, who loves to gamble - seen him around before likely to 4 bet very light)

2 calls

Hero finds  Qs Qh in the cutoff and 3 bets to 1150 - Have been caught doing this with  7s 5s in similar situation 1 round before and got there. People probably think im doing this light.

Villain 4 bets to 4000 in the small blind.

No real reads on him, never seen before. Over the age of 40 so in my eyes couldent see it being light, although my image could affect this.

Question:

Should we find the fold button here?

What questions do you want answered?

My general rule QQ is the nuts pre in small live donkaments. People just do too much stupid shit. I haven't played one in a while but i doubt it's improved much.

3b bigger like 1500.

Cold 4-bet is pretty much gross here. I think you are capable of chipping up here very easily in these games. I would find the fold button and hope he doesnt show AQ or Jacks

Hmmmm, thats what i was thinking Mark, i figured i was at best against AK and dont need to flip with them.

Without being naive; what does 3 betting bigger achieve? I listen to advice jsut want to understand the theory behind it, i wanted it to look weak but wasnt expecting the 4bet from the blinds.

I shipped, he insta called with Aces and i was out, driving home was thinking how i could fold and continue crushing with such a good structure (45 mins clock) where 8-% of the field are used to 20 minute blinds

Yeh I don't agree with muckthenuts at all.

Live players might splash around calling too much pre and overvaluing hands vs aggressive action. I.e calling an all in with 1010 or aq when they shouldn't but they tend not to 3 and esp 4b without it.

Fair enough. But i played tons of these in my first year of uni and saw the most ridiculous stuff time and time again. People just do the most weird things in these and will show up with hands like 77 through to ATcc all in here. I've saw it literally all the time. QQ is the nuts.

Really don't agree with that post Amir.

I've saw it literally all the time.

I mean that's just the worst sentence I've ever seen.

I went out in a deepstack like this, with Kings to obvious aces, and ended up folding KK in a cash game 2 months later because i knew i should have folded pre before. Ridiculous what this game does to you. Its a hard fold because poker players look down at a good starting hand and immediately the adrenaline gets going :/
