Title: UKIPT Galway Post by: FUN4FRASER on January 02, 2012, 06:24:23 PM I know this is relatively early..but Im looking to book flights and hotel room for the Galway UKIPT in February .It would appear no flights go direct from The North of England and the nearest other two airports that have plenty of flights are either Knock (1 hour taxi) or Shannon (2 hour taxi)
Any of you guys got any advice on flights /hotels or fancy travelling in a group etc then please let me know Thanks in Advance Title: Re: UKIPT Galway Post by: smashedagain on January 02, 2012, 06:34:26 PM Last two seasons I have flown in direct to Galway from Manchester with Aer Arran. 2 options I think: 1. Fly to Shannon and take cab. 2. Fly to Dublin, rent car and drive down their M6 straight to Galway. Approx. 2hrs drive. Or may not bother Im told Shannon to Galway is 90 mins...The place to check out is an Airport called "Knock" 45 minutes North of Galway as there seems to be plenty of flights . Dublin to Galway is 130 miles so I think a last resort but doable if needs must . Lets get our heads together and get something arranged Title: Re: UKIPT Galway Post by: SolarCarro on January 03, 2012, 12:05:26 AM I work in Galway a lot (off their tomorrow)

Title: Re: UKIPT Galway Post by: KarmaDope on January 03, 2012, 11:16:52 AM Oh, you can fly from Manchester to Shannon with Aer Lingus.
Did a dummy booking - flying on 14th Feb returning on 21st Feb. £50 return + £12 handling fee without a checked bag - an extra €15 for a bag I believe. Of course, you could always get it all in a hand luggage suitcase... Title: Re: UKIPT Galway Post by: SolarCarro on January 03, 2012, 11:18:45 AM Its further away and non-motorway. Agree with Adam, Knock is 55 miles North but roads are not as good as the Shannon route but if flights are better Knock is a viable alternative I am flying Manchester - Shannon tonight - drive to Galway Dave Title: Re: UKIPT Galway Post by: FUN4FRASER on January 03, 2012, 11:25:10 AM Its further away and non-motorway. Okay thanks for that too Looks like Shannon Airport it is then (with Knock as back up) Ill have a look at flights as there are two start dates/times Thursday the 16th Feb @ Midday or Friday the 17th @ Midday . If there are a few of us travelling then we need to decide which start date suits...maybe post best option on here ?
