I have been very active - probably raised (X2) 8 out of the last 10 hands on Button/SB and also getting folds on the BB. Trivial Fold? If calling, what with? (Super Tight?) What stack size of Villian should I be calling with A rags? Title: Re: Satellite Post by: silverslick on January 08, 2012, 10:10:37 AM Fold. My calling range is kk+ let the othrer 2 fight it out. If he has 150k it is closer to a call IMO.
Let this one go and keep raising when unopened. Title: Re: Satellite Post by: Skippy on January 08, 2012, 10:23:20 AM ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
What you should be doing (and should have done so far) is stepping away from the computer and blinding down until you have around 750,000 chips. Play AA, KK or QQ only. There are 1,500,000 chips in play, which means as long as you can keep your stack above 750,000 chips, you can't possibly lose. 750,000 is the finish line. It's up to the two guys with 300,000 chips to fight for the seat amongst themselves. More chips to you are worthless. I know A8 is probably the best hand at the table 3 handed, but if you get called by 72o and he hits a 7, you are going to want to beat up your cat. If you do blind down to near even stacks with the two shorties, then it's time to start playing hands again. If you did decide you have a burning desire to make some chips with this hand, you need to OPEN JAM because a) Your opponents have <10bb. b) You need to use Sklansky's Gap Principle here. You need a better hand to call than you need to open raise, so if you jam, your opponents are going to struggle to call with even really good hands. If you min raise then get jammed on, then the gap is reversed on you! You suddenly need a premium. Title: Re: Satellite Post by: paulhouk03 on January 08, 2012, 10:33:06 AM I would fold this spot pretty easily and continue min raising and let go with any resistance unless they keep doing it which is doubtful
Tightening up is not a good idea IMO Title: Re: Satellite Post by: WPIL on January 08, 2012, 10:41:39 AM Trivial Fold Then (When he shoved probably behind anyway)
Not sure about blinding down - that is just over 2 orbits and then I am at 750,000 And NO Cat beating up from me! Title: Re: Satellite Post by: chatban on January 08, 2012, 02:45:49 PM Terrible advice about blinding down. Just fold this and keep doing as you were.
Title: Re: Satellite Post by: Killerkilsby on January 08, 2012, 03:03:18 PM Think its a trivial fold.
With regards to what stack size i call, im no expert but id call up to 100k. Title: Re: Satellite Post by: Solaris on January 08, 2012, 04:26:19 PM What are the stack sizes?
Title: Re: Satellite Post by: WPIL on January 08, 2012, 04:36:53 PM just under 8 bigs each
Title: Re: Satellite Post by: chatban on January 08, 2012, 04:48:57 PM Tbh you cant raise fold to 8bb stack sizes. Its terrible. Open shoving is pretty much the nuts with A8 here.
Title: Re: Satellite Post by: Solaris on January 08, 2012, 05:10:38 PM Tbh you cant raise fold to 8bb stack sizes. Its terrible. Open shoving is pretty much the nuts with A8 here. This. Why are you raising from an 8bb stack? Title: Re: Satellite Post by: WPIL on January 08, 2012, 05:15:27 PM Not raising from 8 BB - I have 22 BB
Title: Re: Satellite Post by: Solaris on January 08, 2012, 05:18:20 PM Not raising from 8 BB - I have 22 BB Sorry, my mistake I'm blind, just so used to seeing the stack sizes in a different format in a hand history. Having looked properly, it's a really, really easy fold. Title: Re: Satellite Post by: chatban on January 08, 2012, 05:33:26 PM Not raising from 8 BB - I have 22 BB 8bb effective so yes raise folding is beyond spewy Title: Re: Satellite Post by: Killerkilsby on January 08, 2012, 06:23:40 PM Obv in a normal tourney its a snap raise folding not too bad in this situation imo
Title: Re: Satellite Post by: EvilPie on January 08, 2012, 06:24:45 PM Shove pre. Not even close.
As played it's an easy fold. Title: Re: Satellite Post by: WPIL on January 08, 2012, 07:02:18 PM Why a shove pre when I have been raising X2 for the last 3 orbits?
Title: Re: Satellite Post by: chatban on January 08, 2012, 07:16:15 PM Why a shove pre when I have been raising X2 for the last 3 orbits? I guess it isn't terrible if you snap call that hand. But its still bad. however the stack sizes and blinds dictate that you need to remove any fold equity that the villains possess. Quite simply it is unexploitable to shove A8. However it is very exploitable to raise fold A8. Ask yourself iwhy you have played A8 as a pure bluff pre flop? I didnt notice what your M was whem i first posted. Title: Re: Satellite Post by: WPIL on January 08, 2012, 07:52:59 PM So what should I be doing?
Shoving AI a slightly tigher range OR liberal opening and folding unless I have JJ/AQ plus or small stack gets to 100k? Also come on Wednesday!!!!!! Title: Re: Satellite Post by: chatban on January 08, 2012, 08:05:58 PM So what should I be doing? Shoving AI a slightly tigher range OR liberal opening and folding unless I have JJ/AQ plus or small stack gets to 100k? Also come on Wednesday!!!!!! None of them options. Shove and shove a hell of a lot wider than AQ/JJ plus. If you really are in a great spot to just crush the guy on your left into the ground 2/3 hands. Look up Nash ranges online and shove anyything that has 8+bb shoving range. Title: Re: Satellite Post by: WPIL on January 08, 2012, 09:00:56 PM Looked up Nash Ranges and maybee I have misunderstood but Blind on Blind?
Got a Link? Chatban Also is my A8 a Shove? Title: Re: Satellite Post by: muckthenuts on January 08, 2012, 09:01:39 PM Icm wise this is an absolute dream situation to go mental with your shoving. Due to the similarty in stacks and the solitary prize jump they will have to have insane tight calling ranges vs you. I'd be shoving lots and grinding their stacks down as small as possible in relation to mine to ensure i lock up my own seat.

This will be useful in general http://www.holdemresources.net/hr/sngs/hune.html Title: Re: Satellite Post by: Skippy on January 08, 2012, 09:44:32 PM Why a shove pre when I have been raising X2 for the last 3 orbits? Don't raise 2x when your opponents have less than 10bb. Title: Re: Satellite Post by: WPIL on January 08, 2012, 09:56:11 PM SAYS 20PLUS FOR A8
what is the 20 plus? Title: Re: Satellite Post by: chatban on January 08, 2012, 10:02:37 PM SAYS 20PLUS FOR A8 what is the 20 plus? Yeah. Buuuut take them with a tiny pinch of salt. It may be unexploitable to shove A8 for 20bbs but that is based on the assumption villain plays optimally too. Use it as a tool to see if you shove too tight/wide. Bet you are surprized no?! Title: Re: Satellite Post by: MANTIS01 on January 08, 2012, 10:46:35 PM If you really have min-raised 8 out of last 10 hands and both oppos have folded each time I would fold here and carry on 2xing it until the cows come home. I would only start jamming if they start 3bet jamming more frequently than this one time. Let them carry on playing terrible for as long as they want to imo.
Title: Re: Satellite Post by: WPIL on January 08, 2012, 10:51:11 PM People don't play optimally and neither do I!!!!!!!
Proabably best to have Raise/Folded got my seat/500 as well (and one the night before) Title: Re: Satellite Post by: chatban on January 08, 2012, 11:21:52 PM People don't play optimally and neither do I!!!!!!!
