Title: PLO100 turn decision Post by: Pinchop73 on January 17, 2012, 11:01:33 AM Hi, would like an opinion on this hand.
I've only been playing around 20 mins, but have been bossing the table of nits. Villain seems competent and shows up as a rakeback winner. Have already bluffed him off some small pots when he's tried to play back at me oop. Been to showdown once, where scabbyqueen called my value bet after I floated a single raised pot otf, and backdoor'd a flush. The hand... Title: Re: PLO100 turn decision Post by: strak33 on January 17, 2012, 12:39:06 PM Do we already know which river cards we are calling bets on if we check back?

I assume then we're betting those rivers when checked to? Title: Re: PLO100 turn decision Post by: Pinchop73 on January 17, 2012, 02:12:50 PM Cheers men.
Fwiw I had villain precisely on AJxx/66xx with his flop and turn action, only hands that made any sense from an ABC reg. So I guess that's goot. He'd 3b me a few times out the blinds, so I felt that AAxx/JJxx wern't a large part of his range. Just wanted to post this as I'm a bit of a noob at PLO. Due to the way I was playing I thought he MIGHT do this with all his draws (I certainly would) as well as the aforementioned value hands in his range, so with all the equity I picked up on the turn combined with the fact that I felt his range COULD be wider that I initially felt (A5XXss, 78XXss etc) I decided to jam. Basically what I was hoping to find out was if any PLO experts felt that the villains range could be wider than it first seems. Got my answer so thank you very much. :) Guess this means I'm playing too aggressively. - - - This is only my opinion, and I realise that the person advocating it is a trillion times better than me, but... I'm never checking behind here as I'd never check behind any of my value hands, plus never REALLY going to realise my equity if I check behind and the spade drops. It is a much less swingy method of playing though I guess. Would really hate to check behind top set tho. If it goes check/check on the turn? I think I'm calling pretty much anything if that was the action. Title: Re: PLO100 turn decision Post by: Dubai on January 17, 2012, 02:46:27 PM You dont need to balance your checking behind range by including the top of your range ie top set- the top of your checking behind range is a hand like this where u hate getting cr and have equity against all hands and have all draws crushed, ie KQTx etc- you balance this range by including AIR- ie when you give up, so therefore on the river part of your range has showdown value and part is air, thats how its balanced. Not by checking top set behind
Fwiw i dont check the turn behind, but im betting to get it in as peoples ranges are way wider in the games i play specifically against me. I was saying if you are betting the turn with the plan to fold, then its probably better to check and not bet fold a load of equity away- wouldnt worry about realising equity when spade comes, surely he will think you are MORE likely to bet AsXs on turn than you are to check it Title: Re: PLO100 turn decision Post by: GreekStein on January 17, 2012, 02:48:49 PM Do we already know which river cards we are calling bets on if we check back? we should be folding a lot. Really? If it goes check/check on the turn? I think I'm calling pretty much anything if that was the action. You'd call on an offsuit 10, K, Q or J? Probably not the J but I hate being bluffed so yeah I'd call the others.
