Title: PLO100 - 200bb deep, turn decision in 3b pot.
Post by: Pinchop73 on January 19, 2012, 11:38:15 AM
Playing 6max PLO100 last night, I get involved in a pot vs villain. I've got position on him, and have been barrelling him off more pots than I really should have, the majority of my stack coming from him, without showdown. Just been some really nice spots to take it down.

We are now both 200bb deep after he hit his flush after 3b a flush draw vs a set otf and getting there. Villain seems competent, and has folded everytime I've shown strength as previously stated. Has yet to 4b me even though I've 3b a lot of his opens, simply due to having decent cards often.

The hand in question.

Folds to Villain who raises to $3 from C/O, hero raises to $9 with 5d Th Kd Aspades from the button.

Sb folds, bb folds, villain calls.

Flop (pot $19.5) 5c Tc Ts.

Villain checks. Hero bets $12. Villain calls.

Turn (Pot $43.5) Qc.

Villain checks. Hero bets $30. Villain raises to $100.

Hero?

yh call here and most likely call the river unless you find a really good reason not to.

Call, call.

Can't think what the 'really good reason' lil dave was referring to might be.

I assume you lost but it's just a cooler.

Also there's no point jamming the turn if that was your question because you hardly ever get called by worse.

Could be interesting if he checks the river. Pretty sure I'd check back but interested what others might do.

Horrible spot, couldn't really blame you for call calling but description of villain makes me want to fold.

no I don't think its as close as that Matt, what we have is purely a top bluff catcher, we can't beat ANY value bets.

The sucky thing about this spot is that the description of the dynamic between you and the villain SOUNDS aggressive from your angle and passive from his, so you can only assume he's waiting for a spot to fight to back vs you (but he might not be, he could just be tight) so you're decision is basically do we give him ultimate credit the first aggressive action he makes or do we not. we only lose to QT and QQ but the range he bluffs with is quite thin as well so its gross but i'd call call here more likely than not although I'd be hating my life doing it. I think i'd rather call than fold this hand to this guy at this point in the "dynamic" even though we have no real idea what he thinks of this "dynamic"

seems like a gross spot, but on the turn you definitely lean towards calling (dont know whats better raising or folding on the turn)

raising the turn is far and away the worst option.

in the spot as it is we're are bluff-catching, imo it goes folding>calling>>>>>>>>>>>>turnign your computer off>>>>>>>sticking a fork in your arm>>>>>>>>>raising

(i prolly wouldn't fold though)

vs described villain, its a decent 3bet, I think 3betting is just a little better than peeling
