Title: Is this good aggression
Post by: silverslick on January 24, 2012, 03:16:59 AM
Playing against a guy who is 41/39 over 100 hands withh 100% Cbet.

I am trying to counter him by 3 betting more. I have also been trying to bring more aggression in to my game. He has folded to a couple of my 3 bets.

Player10 calls [$13.78 USD]
Player10 wins $47.75 USD from main pot
Player10 shows [Tc, Jc ]

When he checks I try and take it away. There is no flush on the board. He turns up with J 10 and I lose the pot.

Should I have given up on turn and is my bet on the river a good line.

I think I would fold turn, im not sure about pre, I would probably have folded. If he is that aggressive then I would just play tight and wait for him to bluff/spew his money off when he has an average  hand, with the 4 bet pre you aren't sure if he has a good hand or not but you know you will have to call the flop bet to find out, I would wait and see if he 4 bets you more in retaliation before peeling. On the river if he is a fish he is going to call you with almost any hand that beats you anyways and if you check back you can beat his bluffs/ semis.

3bet preflop is fine  imo

fold the flop. I assume you're not 3betting loads so when he bets the flop he is still betting into a very strong range which is fine for us , just so happens this hand we have somewhere near the bottom of our range so just fold. (As in, most of the time we have a much better hand than we do here so his bet isn't great)

Flatting a 4 bet pre is not good aggression.

Flatting the flop is not good aggression.

Flatting the turn is not good aggression.

Shoving the river when you've got barely a 1/2 psb isn't going to work often against a guy who 4 bet pre.

I think the question you need to ask yourself here is what you would've done with a thin value hand. Would you have shoved the river with A10 for example or just checked back?
