Title: horse for today
Post by: treefella on January 26, 2012, 12:03:55 PM
Good friend of mine has a horse being currently trained in Dubai. Horse seems to be improving with every run and they are hoping for big things from him in general. They recently turned down a significant offer to purchase him which shows their faith in the animal.
My pal said last week that he would be in Dubai for a few months with the idea being that he can win some decent prize money. Also said that they are not there for the fun of it and he needs to win something to pay for all the costs , which are huge as im sure you can all appreciate.
Anyway the horse is in form , fit ,well & fancied so cant really ask for more .
It's also tipped up by a few form guru's in general .The betfair  tipster being one of them and also timeform . It's not the easiest of races but they think this horse is good enough to run at the world cup meeting in March , so needs to win today to justify the entry.

Belgian Bill  4.40 meydan currently available around 5/1

I have my £100 on so gl us !   : )

Expecting much better things today back on turf. Horse came back a tad sore from its last run and they just think he didn't like the surface . Songcraft came out and won again last week so the form of this horse is good enough to win this today . I havn't spoken to my friend today as yet, who is one of the shareholders ,but there's nothing unusual in that .He generally wont answer the phone on race days as everyone just hassles him for info. I spoke to him last week however and every thing is still on track for a bink. Like i said earlier they need the prizemoney for costs.

 Belgian Bill 5.30 Meydan . currently around 16/1 .
Keep the faith !

i wouldn't go mad but he's defo trying and worth couple quid to pay for the weekends beer : )

One day it'll win and everyone will be really happy despite being 12 grand down on it.

Had a long chat with my mate today regarding yesterdays run. Ted Durcan the jockey said nothing was going better in the race 2 out and he thought that the horse would win for sure.
The horse stopped so quickly as he broke a blood vessel " Bled " as is know in the game. This explains probably why he stopped so quickly in his last 2 runs when looking the winner 2 out. According to the jockey there are no stamina doubts and he is certain the horse stays 10 furlongs, is a very good animal and will win a decent prize.
At least we know why he ran poorly but this is hugely disappointing for my mate as the horse now cant run at the world cup meeting in March where by the prize money is huge and by far the biggest in flat racing.
The horse will need to go on a course of drugs  and will have to return to Whitsbury back in the UK. You need so much luck in this game even when you have a good horse. The costs can just run up and up and up .
Will let you all know if he's fancied when back on the racecourse.

Once they've bled once, they rarely come back to the form of pre bleeding.

Shame because he's clearly a very talented horse.

Title: Re: horse for today
Post by: treefella on August 03, 2012, 12:43:13 AM
Ok so we run again today. Horse has run a few times since I last posted without success . At Royal Ascot which was probably his best runs this year considering how strong the competition were, the horse ran reasonably but wasn't expected to win , hence no posts & last time at newmarket when made fav was just ridiculous. No way would he win  on such ground and indeed arguments were caused umongst the three owners  with regard to if he should run at all. My mate was out voted by the other 2 owners who wanted him to run. This was a mistake for sure and sometimes running a horse of this quality in the wrong races too many times will just simply break them. I hope that's not the case here.

At Goodwood today however we have a totally different proposition. Right trip , going , yard getting a few winners , not to mention top jockey. So more than hopeful of a decent run and hopefully you guys can get a few quid back for the weekend.

Belgian Bill goodwood 3.10pm

Everything looks in place today for a great run although this is a very competitive handicap at a difficult track , i recommend each way bets at around 16/1 - 20/1
so gl us !

Something i should probably point out.

Drawn 15 is not good . Stats show that almost all the winners of this particular race were drawn low. So 20/1 is about right .
Feel we are gonna need some luck in running to win this so small stakes only guys !

Yeah this is right, the draw is terrible but it´s probably in the price with everything else looking favourable. The edge if we have one is that connections (evidenced partly by this thread) think he´s better than he´s shown so far. Small interest for me, Murtagh is as good a man as any to try and overcome the draw issue.

Sigh at seeing this .
Certainly had a few losing runs since i tipped him up,but it has been running in hot high value handicaps that you need a whole lot of luck in.
I gave up backing this one a long time ago, but still cant help feeling pretty miffed i never backed him last night  : (
Admittedly this was a much weaker race last night and they did punt it from 12/1 the night before , but they generally do this every time it runs anyway.
Spoke to the owner today who is obviously very happy , he backs him blind every time it runs , although he is a big loser overall financially from punting.
horse is well high up in the weights now , but could probably win on the all weather again in the right race.

gl to those still following and sorry i never gave you all a winner when it mattered  :(

This one by far the most interesting one ever posted imo.

It showed repeatedly it was way better than it's handicap mark, just needed connections to find what it's perfect conditions were and how to persuade the horse to put it all in.

Think it's capable  of winning a listed race in the right circumstances, maybe even a group 3.

Our Mick has gone woofy imo, hence the first-time blinkers today. I'd say he's on the risky side and I'd sooner back him win only if at all, as there's a good chance it will be all or nothing.
