Title: Re: Derren Brown at the Blackpool opera house Post by: DaveShoelace on February 03, 2012, 06:21:18 PM I saw him live a few years back, he was absolutely superb.
He did this thing where he got the audience to throw a ball around to each other and stopped it on a girl next to me, got her on stage, told her to think of a friend but dont say their name, then stared at her for ages, then simply said: "Richard................Orson?" Of course he nailed it right away, then the girl came and sat back down and all her friends (Who knew this Richard Orson fellow) and her were going crazy for the rest of the show and the interval. I was privvy to her conversations after and her reaction seemed uber genuine. If you read his book, you wont know how he does most of his stuff, but you will have a better general idea. The thing that I love about DB is that I think there is more mystery and beguilement when you realise it is not magic, but just sheer hard work and talent, that makes him do what he does. I loved the start but thought it tailed off at the end but overall was excellent. if you don't like the first bit then I doubt you're going to get into it
Title: Re: Derren Brown at the Blackpool opera house Post by: TheChipPrince on February 04, 2012, 12:43:15 AM I've been to see him live 4 times, inc at Blackpool. You'll have a blast.

Think I read it through in a day or two. As for Derren Brown, very clever bloke who's worth listening to beyond his main stagecraft and 'magic' stuff. Title: Re: Derren Brown at the Blackpool opera house Post by: leethefish on February 04, 2012, 03:55:37 PM From Blackpool and parents/mates still there. Also seen Derren Brown - really good show, well, amazing! Great thanks for this mate prob go for the Hilton If its not too expensive will pm you nearer the time about the poker Hotels I'm not the best on, but it all depends on your budget really. I'm guessing Hilton is a safe bet, and its not far into town. B & B's are a mixed bag - some great boutique ones I've heard and some right dives. My mate stayed at the 'Big Blue Hotel' next to the Pleasure Beach and across the road from G Casino. He recommended it, but he's from Burnley so I don't go much by what he says... What kinda food do you like when eating out? Can recommend some good places but obv diet dictates - also alot of the better ones are a little outside of Blackpool. Check the G casino website, but as far as I remember the best Sunday tourney is at the Mint/Circus/Genting place at North Shore (about 7 quid in a taxi). Its got the best deep structure and more players. That said you can play the Sunday afternoon in G casino and if you bust head to here (starts at 1800 I think). However, highly recommend the cash game in G casino. Softest 1/2 game I've ever ever played in. Lots and lots of gamble (PM me for details if you want). Play solid and you'll print money.
