blonde poker forum

I am delighted to announce that DTD and blonde have come to an agreement whereby DTD "sponsor" blondepoker.

Why the inverted commas?

Because it's not really a sponsorship in the usual sense - in this case, DTD will be working hard, & investing a great deal of cash, & resource, both into blonde, & it's Members.

The deal is for two years, and at a time when some segments of the poker industry are struggling, this is a stunning committment by DTD.

In all the time blonde has been around, we have never had a 2 year deal previously.

Cost, to DTD? Hard to say, but the actual, up-front cost comes to over £50,000, & with the added value, extra resource, added value for blonde Membership, and other stuff, it's unlikely to come in at under £100,000. 

Included in the deal, which starts immediately, is......

The existing staff costs  - for Rich, who runs the place, & will continue so to do - will be fully paid for the next 2 years.

26 Live Updates from DTD per year, for 2 years, one every 2 weeks on average, all fully funded by DTD. These Updates will include the Grand Prix, the Deepstacks, the Monte Carlo, the 6 Max, & some other yet to be announced plans which DTD are formulating. I'll address the matter of the existing "blonde Live Update Fund" shortly.

DTD have developed new Live Update Software which will greatly enhance the Live Updates, & Live Streams, & blonde will use this.

The server Hosting Costs will be included in the deal.

There will be a huge blondebash at DTD in April, & again in the future, with a Guaranteed Value Tournament, the bash costs fully funded by DTD.

DTD's superb IT resources will revamp the blonde website, including the "Home Page", to make it fresher & better. That page, & the Forum, are already very SEO-friendly, but will be more so, especially with the addition of more & fresher content. Content is key in these things, & DTD will be assisting with this, including regular input from Rob Yong & Simon Trumper.

blondes can also expect preferential treatment in the Caribbean Poker Party promotions, & some other upcoming stuff.

 

The key to the whole deal is working together. DTD will not spam as such, but this will be the home of the DTD Poker Club, & there will be "Ask DTD" threads or similar for each of their Live Brands.

Rob Yong will, we hope, be a lot more prominent on here, too, with his Blogs uploaded here, & hopefully, Forum Posts.

I have consulted Flushy as to the deal, (he is the largest Shareholder, so has the right of veto), & he has assured us of his continued & enthusiastic support, & thanks DTD for this partnership.

Tighty is delighted too, & well he should be, because he has worked hard with DTD, way beyond the call of duty, to keep the channels open. He will comment further shortly.

Me? I think it's Christmas, Easter & Shrove Tuesday, all rolled into one, I'm thrilled to bits, & blonde's future is now more assured than ever before. It was not always so, & we've had some worrying times, but now, everything is cool. We could not wish for better than to partner for 2 years with, many would say, Europe's best Live Poker Club.

We'll need to work at it, so will DTD, & so will the Membership need to buy-in to the deal. I'm sure all parties, minus, quite reasonably, a few, will, it's the best deal in town, & blonde are lucky to have it. We have always fitted each other like gloves, & I see no reason for that not to get even better.

All things come at a cost, even this beauty, so there will be some changes with immediate effect.

The thrust of the partnership is to work with DTD Live Poker, & they are paying an absolute fortune for that right.

Not unreasonably, then, other Poker Venues will no longer be permitted to spam or promote their Tours or Events on blondepoker. They have, hitherto, been allowed to do this free of charge, so it's not that they have lost anything, except the right to promote on our Forum, to which they paid no cost. Rich will be contacting all the venue Reps who Post on here in the next few days to communicate this.

The same applies to Representatives of other Venues or Pros for Online Sites (with exemptions, as below), they will no longer be able to promote their wares here. Given the cash DTD are investing in blonde, its an entirely reasonable stance, in my opinion. 

Common-sense will apply on this, people can Post & discuss any Poker Tour, Room, or subject, they wish, but not as commercial stakeholders of other Tours, Rooms, or Sites. If anyone wants to abuse that informal arrangement, we will ask them to desist.

Many Cardroom managers & Online Pros are also "regular" Members here. They are encouraged & welcome to continue as regular Members. A great example would be Gorgousuouuos George, from Luton, who holds dual citizenship as a Cardroom Promoter, & regular Member. He also plays at DTD, but would not be welcome up there if he left flyers on the Table advertising G-Luton. Same thing.

Another example would be Cos - remember him? - & Poker Encore, etc. Same as before, just common-sense, exactly as he does already, & it will be just fine.

The main exemptions are Tours or Rooms with which DTD already have a commercial affiliation by way of hosting Events, such as UKIPT, APAT, Sky  (http://affiliatehub.skybet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_4080b_3)Poker (http://affiliatehub.skybet.com/processing/clickthrgh.asp?btag=a_4080b_3), etc. For those, it is "as you were", but the truth is, they all sell out every event, so it's information more than spam, & DTD are absolutely fine with it.

Coverage & Promotion of non-UK Events such as EPT, WPT Europe, WSOP, etc, will all continue as they always have done here.

Some re-organisation of the existing Boards will take place immediately, & Tighty will fill you in on that.

In short, the existing Live & Online Poker Boards will disappear, non-promotional content on them will be moved to The Rail, or Lounge, as deemed appropriate.

The Staking Boards will be promoted to Main Boards in their own right, but remain otherwise unchanged.

Simon Trumper's "DTD News & Views" Thread will move to The Rail, though it may not remain in its present form.

Rob, Nick Whiten (currently on holiday), Tighty & myself will be meeting up in the next week or so to help draw up a formal Action Plan for the deal, & we'll keep you informed.

Finally, the mood on blonde has improved out of all recognition of late, & this in no small part encouraged DTD to become involved again. Nobody is going to sponsor a Forum where the debate is not adult, & civilised.

blonde has improved in other ways recently, too. The betting Board is a right lively resource now, & the PHA is unrecognizable from it's low of 2 or 3 years ago. Dem kids are well good.

The Mods Board is almost dead, too. Glory be, long may it last, but these things really helped to secure this Deal.

Spent the last couple of days at DTD after playing the first ever Genting tour.  DTD was run 10x better than the Genting one and partnerships like this are the reasons why DTD will continue to be so far ahead of the competition in the live poker arena

With regard to the live update fund, I currently have £150 collected at the weekend and a further £50 for a non DTD Update

As part of this we will have our hands full updating at DTD so won't be updating GUKPTs etc, also consistent with not promoting other tournaments

With regard to this money, I am happy to use it towards the blonde bash, charitable donation, whatever

It goes without saying that I am incredibly grateful for those who have donated towards updates over the last year. Without those donations that allowed myself and others to keep updating at DTD I doubt that this thread would exist.

It is a Live club deal first and foremost, promote the club on here, update at the club. That's not to say DTD don't want you to play online with them, but its not the focus of this partnership

I am just wondering what the correct definition of spamming is in this case, will those boards be closed, or is it just 'spamming' outside of that particular designated area that is off limits?

No the local card-rooms won't be allowed, and the board will be closed/not available to view. Same for Internet poker, and Online card-room reps..unless in either case there is an active partnership with DTD such as UKIPT etc

Individual members unconnected with an organisation can post "Hey, I am playing the £150 at Luton this weekend, who else is?" but no links etc in response. It's the "don't hand out a flyer in our club" principle now applied to this forum

Fml as they say. Been waiting all day for this thread to be first responder. Sic sat waiting to hit send and have to go get the 5 kids on the school run.

I have never hidden my love for Dtd +  all their staff and I have to say after the advent calendar this thread has put the next biggest cheesy grin on my face ever. Tikay mentions the present economic climate and it just goes to show how hard himself and Tighty have worked to get this deal done. I wont go so far as to say that Rob Yong is our saviour (even I thought the writing was on the wall when they started the live stream and Jonathons up dates) but this IMO is the nutz outcome for both parties concerned.

Thanks a million to Dtd and team Tikay/Tighty for putting the deal together and thanks to all the blondes that contributed to the update funds to keep us at Dtd this last year. I am pretty confident that the loyalty we showed to Dtd and Rob has had some influence and I for one will be backing his 100 % and hope all my friends and fellow blondes respond likewise.

This is a shame as these were often useful.  I can see why DTD felt they should be closed though.

Nice to see less boards in the main forum index, I for one dont like too many boards, I get confused.

It would be great, btw, to see DTD get more general coverage on Sky Poker TV. Obv I have no idea how far that element of the deal would go, but I for one would love to see some sort of reciprocal three way circle jerk kinda partnership between the three.

My own kids are the only ones that get to own me tikay ( well DMorgan jammed it in my eye pretty hard once and Lildave is defo up on me lifetime, then R Angood bent me over good n proper, infact the list goes on and on lol) but you get my drift.

As stated already by Rich, the Staking boards continue exactly as before, though as Main Boards now, not Sub-Boards, & no, they are NOT confined to DTD Events, nothing has changed, the Staking boards continue exactly as was.

There may be some delay - an hour or so - while the Boards are shuffled & re-aligned, thats all.

There are no plans for Trumper & I to "jerk", but he has accepted an invite to be on Ch 865 shortly, & the same invite has been been extended to Rob Yong. DTD & Sky Poker have an excellent relationship already, & I see no reason why it will not get stronger. Both plough their own furrow, both are successful & expanding in a declining market. SPT actually visits DTD not once this Season, but twice, & our Grand Final has been held there for 4 years straight now.

A weird story for you. On second thoughts, no, it can wait for another day.....

Long time blonde lurker (post on other forums) but as DTD is my 'local' club, this tie-up has caused me to register properly and come out of the shadows :) Seems like a good idea for both parties.

Can't see how stars are in any form of competition to DTD.

Everybody knows who they are and what's going on there so hiding it from blonde won't make the slightest bit of difference to their's or dtd's traffic.

I very rarely comment on these sort of threads, however just wanted to say I think in current climate Tikay / Tighty have done a fantastic deal here that will benefit all of the community and Rob and the DTD team continue to seem to just do "the right things" and have the poker community at heart.  In line with others, I just wish the Hertfordshire Room would open soon.

Can you see if Rob will buy another football club next so we can have blonde across the front. Only got to wear my Eastwood town one twice before he sold the club. We can't all afford  to wear £40 shirts twice and bin em :)

I generally only come on here to follow the excellent live updates that Tighty and all the other updater's do, so it's a pity there will not be any from the GUKPT's in future (if I'm reading that right) but on the positive side there will be much more coverage of the DTD events. So that has to be good news.

Shame that your forum has to lose it's total independence/editorial freedom but with the running costs being what they are I understand. TBH I'd sell my granny for that sort of money.

Tighty answered most of those questions, but the one I highlighted I would comment further.

The "Luton League" was NOT an Online League, it was a "Live Poker League", based on the regulars at G-Luton.

The point being......it was run BY the players, FOR the players, & was better for being done like that, it was simply a "Community Thing" that the lads ran.

There is no reason why any DTD &/or blonde regular could not start a "DTD Live Poker" Thread & "Fantasy League" or anything else similar - but to my mind, the endearing nature of the G-Luton "player threads" (which are in the Top 10 Viewed Threads of all time on blonde) HAVE to be run by the players themselves - THAT is what makes them so popular, they are for the players, by the players.

The key is to have a clever thread starter, someone who writes well, devotes 10 minutes daily, & does the humour thing. At Luton, Tighty & Chompy between them come up with all the nicks, & it all adds to the fun. "British Gas", "Angry Greg Raymer", "40 year heater", etc. We now all know these guys by those names irl.

If someone started a DTD Live Poker League, & it has any legs (it will need to be constantly updated, well written, & humorous) we - blonde, DTD, or myself, will chuck in some added value, some prizes, to help rev it up.

Yeah, I'll second that.  Being only 20 miles away from DTD I prayed that this would happen as I'd never played live poker back in the day and I was bad.  I'm pleased to say that I loved it from the moment I walked in the place and I'm still as bad as I was back then.

what I meant by my post is that I want to nudge a couple of DTD regs who post on here often.. who write well, are well liked, connected, maybe even half decent players... probably crush £1k events for fun or just make quads on 1/2 and get people to 3barrell into them... maybe even recently had a sweepstake and enjoyed it despite the hard work...

I am 'regular' enough that I could get on this league as a buyable option, would definitely be loving the cheap transfer costs.  I have looked at the Luton one a few times and despite being pretty successful there have flown completely under the league radar, which is good i guess.  (taking lessons in GIQ)

The only reason I mentioned it here.. is like you've suggested - blonde and dtd might want to make a big deal of it.. possibly even making it 'official'.  As it would be an amazing way to forever link the live - online community.

All noted & agreed. FWIW, I said that DTD, blonde, or myself, would add some value, & the reason for that is that if the Thread is well run & managed, it actually increases attendance at the Venue. Attendances at Lution-G have been boosted by at least 20%, because of the blonde Luton threads, admittedly from a lower player base.

I don't regularly play tournaments at dtd so couldn't run a league john!

TK has asked me put a comment on here. Thank you for the nice words. I don't want to go into specifics on why the previous DTD Blonde deal was not renewed, what I will say is this new deal is a complete U turn on DTD's Live Updating and Forum plans, and this U turn has been solely brought about because Blonde Members showed their support in continuing to self fund their updates at DTD month after month....after month, showing how important the BP/DTD updates were to the Blonde Members.

As DTD will be the sole/sponsor/partner/whatever of Blondepoker, there will be need to be a few tweaks, mainly around 3 areas:

1. DTD's UK competitors cannot spam on Blondepoker (no brainer, we cant drive traffic to our competitors - with the exception of DTD partners, SKY, Pokerstars, APAT, Redtooth etc etc)

2. We need to make some Forum, Web, Update and general presentation investment - 100% DTD funded (BP just needs to move with the times as does DTD)

3. There will be an increase in the Blonde Poker community, therefore we will need to do "Bigger" community initiatives eg. Blondebash, Community Leagues etc

TK and Nick have agreed a 24 month deal to give Blondepoker some security, however, I am also aware there are perils of relying financially on ONE source of income, so I would like to add to that;

As well as the 24 month deal, DTD also agrees to give BP a minimum of 12 months notice* of non renewal of the deal

*This means when we get to 18 months of the deal, if DTD have not notified BP that they will not be renewing the contract after month 24, the earliest DTD can withdraw is 30 months, obviously BP doesn't need to give DTD any notice, its only necessary because BP have agreed to an exclusive deal

Not much will change in next 4 weeks AND I am also very keen that this stays a BLONDEPOKER FORUM, so please keep slagging off DTD (especially Trumps), this is KEY because it makes DTD self improve and debate/arguments often end up in us making positive changes, however, remember WE are also allowed to argue OUR case aswell, just because Simon, Nick, Alex or me comes on and says that someone is talking complete rubbish - this doesnt mean we are moderating the forum, we are just stating OUR case, fair is fair right

I for one have not allways been a big fan of Dusk its self (allways thought it was a bit up its self) but over the last year this has canged as i have been poping up more for there deaper tornys as i find games with shorter clocks suck but thats just my way of looking at things. With doing this I have come to like Dusk.

The loss of allthings luton as in the foem of news and things going on there is a bit of a let down but I can understand that this has to be the way that it is and it might take trade away from DTD its self.

Can I just ask will Blonde be at the 150 Deapstack in the coming weeks???

Not sure if this idea is a valid one at all or not, but having viewed several of the recent live updates done by Tighty (brilliant work as ever btw  ;hattip;) several members and I noted that there are increasing numbers of guests viewing these live update threads. Obviously not surprising given they are a great asset to the site.

I just wondered if it would be in DTD's interests to make that board/the forum as a whole a member-only access thing. Obviously free as ever, but clearly there are lots of guest visitors out there viewing the great content, seems like DTD should at least have the right to get their details/data on record for advertising purposes etc.

Might also encourage some more posters once they sign-up.

AND I MEAN IT.

Just caught up with this since I got back.

Seems like great news for Blonde and kudos to Tighty for getting it done.

I will ofcourse respect the new deal and tone down any mentions of Encore, though I'll still mention it on my diary as it's a part of my life - there will be no form of subtle advertising or spam etc from me though. I hope this deal works great for both parties.

Rob & Nick have both promised to Post more often here. We may even be able to persuade Mr Trumper to tell us some stories, I know you'd love that.

Who decides what stays up? The Mods. DTD have no right of veto, but they do have the right to tell us if something is out of line with the deal, & then the Mods will consider it as appropriate.

Some tolerance by all parties is necessary, & a small price to pay, imo.

I did specifically use you & Encore as an example, you will note.

As DTD and blondepoker are now so closely linked, do you think any upgrades to the platform of tournament updates could be made. I know it was mentioned the DTD online web-design team will be doing some work on the blondepoker site, I would like to suggest some things that might aid the railing experiance:

The automatically updated list of 'finishing positions'/exits could be incorporated as a tab in the live-updates for each covered tournament, with a tab for the live-stream, payout structures, tournament details etc (so that Tighty doesn't have to remind people every X minutes.

It seems that with the link between the two sites DTD can create an update/coverage system for their flagship events of unparalleled quality. The number of times i've had mates playing in tournaments abroad/around the UK and been trying to follow their progress and found the quality of coverage provided, even at some of the bigger comps around Europe, is already far inferior to that at DTD/blonde, but it could definately put itself out as a UK/European/World leader in that regard.

Yes absolutely. Lack of IT resource has severely held blonde back in areas such update technology (where we have been relying on the writing, certainly not the way the content is presented), news site look and ease of use

In time, as Rob has referred to on this thread, this partnership will improve both. Put our updates with some decent technology and we'll hopefully be right out there.

The pillow, not Tikay... inter-family relationships are just plain wrong... as is sleeping with your grandad ;o))

I should add that the delay has been caused at blonde's end, not by DTD.
