Title: Ladcrooks Post by: Biddy 62 on March 04, 2012, 08:35:33 PM Donny races yesterday, backed master of the hall at Kelso with oncourse bookmakers, ladbrokes. Put £40 on at 6/4 race was just off when i put it on. Goes to collect winnings, "sorry sir i only return your stake race had run 45 seconds when you put bet" i told him to fetch his manager, she comes shows me 45 seconds on a screen and says same. So i dug my heels in and told her i would'nt be leaving the counter without my money. After 5 minutes she says as a good will gesture they will pay me on this occasion, i always thought if theyve took your money and you have the slip your bet was on.

Very lucky to collect if what they say is correct. If you'd had £400 on you would have had no shot. The bolded bit is so far from being correct it's not true. You can't expect the staff to read every betting slip they take. Sometimes 10 or more selections on a slip. In fact, if someone knowingly puts a bet on after a result is known, they can be charged with fraud. It has happened on more than one occasion. When each race is off they stamp an 'off slip' thru the till, if your time is after that slip then you did well to get paid. IN NH races you get a bit of time after the off but 40 secs sounds like a lot, in 5F sprints you get zero leeway for obv reasons. Title: Re: Ladcrooks Post by: The Camel on March 04, 2012, 09:13:00 PM I misread, I thought it was 45 seconds before the end of the race.
Still it was pretty late, you wouldn't get paid by very many bookies if you bet 45 secs into a race. Title: Re: Ladcrooks Post by: henrik777 on March 04, 2012, 09:21:30 PM Drug test for Camel.
