I had one very similar a couple of years ago (when I was married, sniff). I ended up ditching it and favouring my £40/50 charcoal burner jobby. Better taste and much much easier to clean up after. Only plus for me was that the gas heats up a lot quicker.

Have you not thought about just building a brick BBQ instead?
yea thought it all mate

but in the summer months ill come home from work Mrs will do a salad and ill chuck a couple of steaks/chicken fillets or whatever and its done in ten Min's ...too much messing about with charcoal on a daily basis anyway!

THere's no real difference between the flavouriser bars & the lavarock AFAIK - they both heat up & then vapourise the falling juices from the meat, adding the charred flavour to the BBQ food.

I wish I could get a £40 charcoal burner for my wife. I'd ditch her straight away too :)

I love BBQs but what makes them great is the charcoal flavour.

I like gas for the speed of meal prep, but I'm a die hard lava rock fan too.  No lava no likey.  Keen to see if I can get my hands on one of those you linked to.

Went to collect said BBQ last night ....

Got it out of the box and started to assemble .....
3 of the parts where bent and damaged!!

Rang the store it was last one and is going to be discontinued.
Really pissed off now as I had to go to loughbough store to get it ..no stock in Leicester branch.

No way I am paying £329  for something that's damaged!

what a great moment in homebase,

so i take the barbecue back and tell them i want a full refund.....

they obviously ask why and i show them the damage, bent warming rack and side panell and door
the guy looks at me as if to say is that all?

i am like yea this is 300 quid mate not a tenner
the manager then says do you want some money off and i reply id preffer one in new condition ..but how much?

he said he would knock off £50 and replace the rack with the display model my reply was make it £100 and you got a deal....

end result BBQ for £229
the dents where nothing really i was just pissed off cos id paid allot of money ...now I'm happy!
