Title: Interesting ruling tonight.
Post by: Killerkilsby on March 10, 2012, 03:57:16 AM
Ok we are on the final table bubble of a local freezeout at work tonight (gala leicester fwiw)
A guy ships all in utg.
Guy on button reships
Big blind is eating steak and having a think - exact quote: 'i make better decisions with food inside me'
Utg and button start discussing hands.
Button asks utg have you got aces? Utg says no have you. Button replies no i have kings.
Utg says ah well i have queens.
BB then clarifies; so you have qq and you have kk?
Both laugh and say yes.
Bb says ok ill call you both then because your hands are dead.
Bb flips A6, button flips KK utg flips..... 88.
Floor called rules that 88 stands KK is dead thus loses his whole stack to the pot and they take the flip for his chips.
Utg holds and busts both.
TD recieving huge amounts of abuse for this ruling, and although you cant state your hand, should this ruling be made and the guy lose his chips?

Thats the rule for Gala nationwide I believe, as it is for Alea.

At no point in a hand can you state your exact hole cards (Eg, I have Kings, not as specific as I have the king of hearts king of spades) as it can be construed as collusion. I dont agree with this rule, but dems the brakes

If thats the rules then yeah thats the ruling.

Lovely rule. Alea has the same rule as Gala?? SWEEEEEEEEET!!!!

Genting too as i discovered a few weeks ago. Perhaps they are all correct with that ruling. Much pondering to be done before the rules meeting next week

Ridic rule. And the guy eating the steak is an angler.

Talking down gala multi way is really bad. Unless you're heads up everyone should STFU

George i give you a clue to the 'angler' he sits 2500bb deep in every cash game..
Agree with the rule in principle but never before seen it enforced so harshly.
Hands dead but do his chips still go in?
Fwiw i agree with the principles behind the ruling and people should not discuss their hands.
Why on earth the kings guy would want to put off a caller behind amazes me as it is.

Seems ridic and bloody harsh!

Could not disagree more. The rules are known to everybody.

In my (sadly plentiful) experience of that place the ruling was ballsy and correct. Its not a home game stfu and have respect for everyone in the hand.

Protect your hand at all times has a lot of meanings!

Out of interest did Jules make that ruling?! Bet the guy with kings wasnt a reg!

FFS lol, pm me the supervisors name please. They have been told that people shouldn't be talking about their hands full stop, but they should never kill a hand in that situation unless they suspect foul play. BTW we can't mention the R word on blonde ;)

Lol, not a reg but not a rand either, a youngish lad in a 2 piece matching tracksuit complete with hat.. Yes jules made the ruling.
WW3 kicked off at the time. Inc 2 bouncers 6 random young guys and 3 staff was abit fiesty.
Sad thing is we think he had them both covered but he threw his chips in the pot in disgust so jules just ruled him out

Lol massive chaos! Ruling is good imo but like most things it depends how its done and said. Pretty funny one.

Alea in Leeds would not rule the hand dead in that instance. Unless they've had some rule changes recently i'm not aware of...

U should never kill a hand imo.

Was the player in question warned?

This shit happens all the time in gala. People don't shut up when multi way in a hand.

Not to single anyone out but I think this ruling has been made because guy in hand is a really important customer. Had the tables been turned I doubt the ruling would be the same.

killing a hand shown or verbally anounced  is deff not the practice in all galas.
last night a player in the tourney at bristol gala shown his hand before calling an all in, was allowed to stand, was told he would be penalised if done again.
later on same player did same thing, no penalty.
on final table a short stack moves in, gets 2 callers , one the same player they then both turned there hands over (with chips in play between 2) saying we will check it down, ruling called both hands still live lol what afarce.

I was there playing cash and saw all that.

Truly awful behaviour from that bloke showing his hands but the players only had themselves to blame for allowing it. If I was on that table I would insist they were dead. The rules are hanging on the bloody wall.

They waited for action to take place ie. flop turn and river then moaned.

If a player announces his hand. Call the floor. Simples. Get floor to check hand if it's what he says it is and he is not all in (like all 3 times yesterday in Bristol) then its dead. Problem occurs when players don't know rules and allow action to take place thus nullifying previous rule.

All way too cosy in Bristol and this leads to too much soft play in small events.

Another belter from gala Bristol 2 weeks ago.

Cash game .50/.50 nlhe

The button was pissed up and played the hand to the river calling all streets with an ace on ace high flop. On showdown his top pair is good but obviously has to show both cards to win pot.

He was only dealt one card as happens occasionally on button and played it for fun factor not letting on.

He was awarded the pot. 1hour of chaos ensued.

His hand is totally invalid obviously but this stuff goes on all the time in there. The floor staff simply don't know the rules and don't seem to want to learn em.

Another reason I like dtd is the consistency and knowledge of floor staff.
