Title: Grrr!!
Post by: Poppet7 on January 11, 2006, 06:37:27 AM
Just been playing an STT on William Hill and it kept freezing so I couldn't play, the worst moment was when I saw I'd been dealt JJ and it folded it because I couldn't press any of the buttons. I ended up going all in on 77 just so I could lose because it is so frustrating seeing your good hands being folded!!

OK

Rant over... :D

Happened to me frequently when I used to play Will Hill. As you say, it rubs your nose in it by then showing all your missed hands at high speed - aces and all! Move to Pokerstars!!

I was thinking of moving to PokerStars.  Is it a great site?

Yes! Great software and range of games. Some say you get slightly better players there, too. But as they sponsor me, I can confirm that is not necessarily the case!

Nor did I at first, poppet, but got used to it very quickly. You can now cash out on your Visa, too

I might try it, William Hill just looks much more simpler!

I do like the plain Crypto site - BF in particullar but I dont like having the same account for my bookies as my poker site!  I'd also like to go to a site with more people (;fish;) and that would probably mean being on one with our American cousins.

Sponsored by them eh - how did they spot you out of interest?

I'm very cheap and I work for The Sun. During EPTs I write Sun online column of my progress (or more often lack of).

it's been a great experience so far and met some fantastic people. Still not rich though.

Do they pay for you to travel to all the events and enter them?  I guess work pays for the travel and PS pays the entry fee?  At least you are in with a shout - must be great going to the events though, I'd like to enter one myself one day but I think I'll need a sponsorship to do so (or win an online tourney) :D

Need an assistant ;) ?

yes Stars pays all travel, accom and buy-ins for EPT. They run LOADS of qualifiers for all EPT events, so well worth your while having a go. There's often 50-odd pokerstars online qualifiers at the EPTs. Met one bloke in Austria who walked off with about eight grand after qualifying online - very happy in the bar afterwards!

I had the same sort of problem on Betfair a few months ago...

Right click on the desktop and go to Properties. >> Then the Settings tab up the top. >> Then click Advanced, and afterwards the Troubleshoot tab up the top. >>> Slide the Hardware accelerator (from Full) down 2 notches.

This seemed to do the trick.

Hope it helps!

Sort of, the picture used as my avatar was taken during the WSOP main event and appeared on the Pokerstars official blog (i didnt know about it until someone who i know from Pokerstars pointed it out to me). As i had won my seat in the event via one of their $650 mtt satellites as part of the package they offered 9 days hotel accomodation free if i agreed to wear their shirts during the event. I asked if i could wear the shirts i'd had made up for the WPT event in the bahamas with my name on and they said it would be ok. They said i may be in trouble if i made the final table as they had a contract allowing logo's only on t-shirts in Binions, i said if i made the final table i would wear whatever they tell me - even a large 8 foot clown suit  :D

I sometimes wear the shirts when playing small festival events or tourneys at the local casinos but i dont get paid for that - i just hope that my opponents see the shirt and think "eh up, he's a sponsored player so he must be good". Unfortunately this plan only works up to the point of the game actually starting!!

No - I was playing at a VC event the night before and was a little "tired" after their wonderful hospitality!

Still playing cash side game at 3am after record-making number of drinks. Somehow I think I "walked" out up for the night, so God know what state the others were in.
