There are four or five white dots on my gum where it meets the top of my wisdom tooth, and also a bit of general soreness in the area. There's also a very slight and occasional ache on my teeth on that side. Anyone know what it could be? Dentist is fully booked and not sure how to treat in the meantime.

This may be a bit icky but just rub it with your finger then have a sniff. If it smells you've got an infection. Best thing from what I understand is to swill salt water around the area but you really need to get in to the dentist. If it's bad you'll be on antibiotics to sort it out. I had Wisdom teeth out, which hurt but quite bad tbh, but not as bad as my root canal. Although the woman who did the procedure did remark i was her first 'live' patient as she was a recent graduate. I had to stop half way through and tell her i was in a lot of pain, she then gave me a couple more injections, i thought i was going to rip the arm's of the chair off. A few weeks later i also had an absess at the bottom of it, so had to get it ripped out and go through it again.
