Bet about 3/4 of the pot.

If they call, then you're in trouble. A check-fold job. Just the overpair with no big draw.

Why do I feel like the next card is going to be a club?  8)

This is PLO hi btw.

So we catch our set and he leads for 1/3 the pot with a flush and str8 possible.

Hmmmm, it's hard to imagine him with  Ks Ts at the moment. I'm not sure, but I'd just call at the moment, nut lo draw and top set, let's see the river.

I'd flat call here and have a peek.

I flat called:

SUPERKMAN: Bet ($15)
MKKMOO  : Call ($15)
*** RIVER *** : [ Js 7s Qc As ] [ Ks ]
SUPERKMAN: Bet ($12)

He only bets $12 into that board and its clear he didnt have the nut flush on the turn. At this point i am thinking small flush or a straight. But only $12 what do we do?

It's pretty horrendous but I guess you gotta call.

$12 so looks like it wants to be called though.

If he is holding a small flush I doubt he can be moved off it.

*** RIVER *** : [ Js 7s Qc  Aspades ] [ Ks ]
SUPERKMAN: Bet ($12)
MKKMOO  : Raise ($75)
SUPERKMAN: Call ($63)
*** SUMMARY ***
Pot: $219 | Rake: $3
Board: [ Js  7s  Qc  As  Ks ]
MKKMOO lost $108.50 (showed hand) [  Ahrt  2h  3c  Ac ]  (three of a kind, aces)
SUPERKMAN bet $108.50, collected $219, net +$110.50 (showed hand) [ Ts  6s  Ad
Th ]  (a flush, ace high)

I tried to move him of it but after a long dwell he called with the ten flush :(

I think a raise is deffo better than a call

I may check raise the flop here, as if you check he may auto bet!

I think once the turn comes you must see the river, he was never going to ass the 2nd nuts to you on the river...

you played it horribly fishy!

raising preflop in PLO is so 2005!  :D

only joking! - preflop, the play is marginal (raise or call 50:50) - YOU WILL GET CALLERS, so the preflop raise is only gonna build a pot, which will encourage people to try and chase and outdraw you for value.  I would have checked the flop - its just too dangerous - you can do your entire stack forcing AA in omaha. - at the end of the day you missed, which means someone else hit, which therefore means you will probably lose the pot.  I would have check folded on the flop, but as you called the flop bet you then also have to call the turn bet with your top set, but you must hope for a pair up on the river.  The small bet on the river looks weak and it is so small that you must call even if you think you are probably beat.  the only way your re-raise gets called is if your beat - the odds are that he had the flush and i just dont think he was laying down his hand, especially the way your betting went, he can't put you on the flush as well.

thats my thoughts anyway... for what they are worth

i was the button ian.

TBH i didnt think his flush was that high, do you think he would pass any flush? I really need to learn when to make moves in this game.

yeah greg i dont normally raise AA in omaha, purely so if i hit it i am not put on it.

The table was quite easy to push around though so i thought just having position would be enough to win the pot!

furry muff, in that case the preflop raise is a good play but you still gotta look to lay it down post flop - even in holdem you might not be that confident with that flop so in omaha you definately got to be worried.

Sorry james misread it!

I don't think there is many flushes he would pass... this guy would've paid you with the nuts! He puts you on trips on the flop, thats why he calls and he has blokers for the str8.

He must think his flush draw is good, and it is aided by his middle pin draw, he thinks ahhh its only $15!

then he hits and wets himself that he could be beat... but he will never pass it!

Moves are far harder at omaha, and at that level i think your going to struggle for people to understand what you are trying!

Yeha greg i was not wild with the flop, but i had got away with a lot of button raises then pot bets on the flop.

Ian cheers for that, all added to the notebook ;-)

After that hand i just reverted back to nut pedaling.

I advocated a fold here despite the excellent pot odds, as it was clear to me he had a flush. He was a fairly solid player and when he bet out the turn after flat calling the flop, every sign indicated he had a flush. The way u played it made the river bluff on the end more likely to be called.

3 things....

1)you had an image as a table nutter, meaning his calling requirements were down.

2) You raised preflop, which is often an indicator of aces. When the As hits and u flat call this smells very much like a set of aces and means its much less likely you have the nut flush.

3) you potted the flop, which looked more like a protection bet than a draw bet. I realise you would also do thsi with a big draw, say broadway wrap  and fd, but many players tend to bet a portion of the pot in this scenario to build up the pot and so when u flat call the turn, it didn't look like a big flush.

If u suspect he is not the nuts on teh turn which is reasonable, waht so people think about a riase here? If he calls and you both fill up on the river, you should get paid off, if he is a set, hes paying to draw with perhaps one out and he may fold some smaller flsuhes ot  a str8 here. If he calls a smaller flush, you now probably get a free check on the river, instead of having to pay off a value bet.

judging by his 1500bb loss in a £1-1 game the other night, not well.

Excellent thread though. Too too funny
