Title: Walsall GUKPT main event - Ant040689 Post by: Ant040689 on March 16, 2012, 10:22:11 AM Last minute.com here but i have got a massive urge to play a good live tournament and this is the only one this weekend worth playing. It is the GUKPT Walsall 1070 pounds main event. I want to sell 30 per cent at 1.15. Would normally do this on spot value, but the costs of hotel and train tickets mean the extra here will help, plus i think i would be good value anyway.
5 per cent = 61.5 pounds 10 per cent = 123 pounds I play tournaments exclusively online professionally with a healthy ROI. Names on sites include 'anup returns' on pokerstars 'anupreturns' on party poker 'Mehant' on Ongame 2dominant4u' Pacific I have recently cashed in the DTD 500 where i thought i played well but was undone with a set up. Greekstein and f3nix35 could give me a nice character reference as i have dealt with both for transferring decent sums online before. I will be turning up about 45 mins late as i am catching the 12.05 train from London Euston which turns up at walsall for 14.00 bang on, which is the starting time but with the stack and blind levels as they are this shouldn't have much of an effect. Worst case scenario i turn up at 15.15 if everything goes wrong, but should only be 45 mins, if investing you need to take this into account. 5 per cent would be the smallest someone can take and as i am cutting it fine i won't be able to check to see if the money has got through before i start playing. So there will be an element of trust here. The people who first respond wanting action will be booked up to 30 per cent. Then i will sort out how those people will pay when i have time later on today. Transfer on pokerstars and bank transfer will be the way most likely. Hope this is fine, attachment of my sharkscopes below. If no-one takes any action this will be a pretty hefty punt on my part, but exciting nevertheless. Title: Re: Walsall GUKPT main event - Ant040689 Post by: Ant040689 on March 16, 2012, 09:19:32 PM I have been very active. Was on 28k on 15k now after calling with A10 on a Axx77 board to a big bet on the river. we had plenty of previous and I should have did the fold but I am learning as I go along how to better adapt my play. Not going crazy just 3betting in position and trying to get in as many pots as possible in a good position when the blinds are still small so i can have a stack when the blinds are a lot bigger.
Must sound like i am spazzing but i am not. Trying to build early and dominate instead of holding on in there. Cue the triple up and the run to the final table imo Title: Re: Walsall GUKPT main event - Ant040689 Post by: Ant040689 on March 16, 2012, 11:41:20 PM Triple up! 50k. Low battery, no more updating till back at hotel.

(http://i42.tinypic.com/qrahcj.jpg) 'Arulmaran Sivaguru makes it 7,000 to play from first position, action is then passed round to Alan McLean who moves all in for 23,000, Anthony Gaughan who is directly to Alans left and only playing around 10 big blinds also moves all in for 35k. The blinds get out of the way and Arulmaran makes the call hoping to knock out two players. Alan shows J-10, Athony tables 9-9 and Arulmaran turns over Kh-Qh. The flop comes 2c--4h--6h, giving Arulmaran a flush draw, any heart, King or Queen and he would knock out two players. The turn card is 5d. The river 8c. Anthony fist pumps and lets out a "Get IN" as he nearly trebles up to aroud 85,000. Which he then apologises for to Alan McLean who is elimnated in 18th place.' Felt terrible for reacting like that, never ever do, always have grace, but not had a fade like that before on a bubble live. This was my exit hand.... 'Action is folded round to Anthony Gaughan on the button who moves all in for 120,000 (20bbs). Chris Gavriel in the big blind, says "I don't believe you" and makes the call. Anthony turns over 6-6 and just needs to dodge a King as Chris turns over the mighty K-3. The flop comes 3--9--2. Giving Chris a pair, but he still needs to hit if we are to make the final. The turn card is a KING!!! Anthony now has two outs to stay alive. The river card is a 5. Chris Gavriel takes the pot. Very cruel way to exit as Anthony Gaughan finishes 10th for £2,650.' Aside from the final table bubble, what made this worse was that we were hand for hand and this went all in quickly and we weren't allowed to turn over our cards for another 5 mins until the next table finished their hand. We knew everything was done and dusted so we shared our hands without showing and i said 66 he said k3 and he initially thought i only had 70k in chips, and would have half justified his call there. Just a really bad feeling after he said he didn't think I had that much, o well. Felt the standard was good in spots with good players like Simon Deadman cleaning up. The rest of the play from other players was different and a culture shock. Got slightly more used to it at DTD in the 500 recently. You cannot play as you do online necessarily, and it is always best to play tight for a round or two when on a new table to suss out what styles all the players have and then proceed accordingly. That is two cashes in my last two live tourns and have noticed my play getting better and i am opening up a lot more calling and playing in position where i can to outplay people post flop, before i would be pretty nitty and would never think of 3 betting 9q suited in position to a loose utg plus one raiser with 50 bbs, just to try and outplay him on the flop and after, but where i see value i will be going for it. O and i made a few mistakes over the weekend but ones i am learning from and if i keep on exploring different avenues of play, making mistakes in the process eventually i should be knowledgeable on what best to do in ANY given spot. Looking forward to the next one and cheers for the backing in this one and it was nice to meet Tikay, Bobalike and Vinny while there. PS. Bobalike and Pleno have been paid, waiting for StuartHopkin to tell me how best he wants to receive monies, bank xfer or pokerstars are ideal for me. |
