Title: Spurs Game.....
Post by: tikay on March 17, 2012, 06:21:12 PM

Any update on this?

Looks like a Bolton player may have collapsed, not looking good.

From the crowd reaction on TV, it does not look good, either.

From what I am hearing from a friend at the game, the consensus in the stands is that Muamba has died.

As my wife always explains to me, if you're not breathing again via a defribulator within 10 mins, you're done. Poor kid.

If he'd been successfully resuscitated we'd have heard about it by now.

From Wikipedia

On 17 March 2012, Muamba collapsed during an FA Cup tie between Bolton and Tottenham Hotspur on live international television and was rushed to hospital;[3] as a result the match was abandoned just before halftime. Muamba's condition is currently not known, but the BBC News website stated that it was "extremely serious".[4]

Your post seems way OTT.

I was at that game with my two sons. A horrible experience

Very relieved the news on Muamba is not as bad as we all feared

Don't see anything out of order on this thread at all

Some sick and unhinged wankers on social media though

Yes, so did I.

But I meant if he was offended by what was written here, he shouldn't look on twitter because some of the stuff there really is sick.

Sounds like good news.

Also if that heart doctor was key in saving him, that's most fortuitous. Also heard that St John's were key when it first happened.

Amazing he was allowed on the field.

Surprised some jobsworth didn't try and stop him.

Just heard on the BBC there hasn't been a statement on his condition yet.

With the propensity of Murdoch employees to tell lies, I'll go with the Beeb.

Steve Robinson ‏ @robins4479 (the cardiologist)

Didn't manage to reach him so the WHL staff revived him & kept him alive, not me. Sadly I tried but held back, so they are the heroes

Shocking when a young fit guy suffers such an unexpected tragedy. I remember marc vivien foe collapsing in similar circumstances.

When I worked for Fitness First a few years ago I employed a cracking young lad called Richard. He started out as a fitness instructor and within a couple of years I promoted him to fitness manager. He was a committed professional and a real gent who was always talking about his love of cricket and sailing. I really got on with Rich and liked him a lot. One weekend he went off to play in his usual cricket game for the local team. During the match he ran in to bowl and collapsed. Unfortunately he never regained consciousness. I used to watch him take spinning classes and think wow this guy can really motor so he was obv super fit. Inexplicable, a real bolt out of the blue, and I remember his mum being totally overwhelmed. So I can imagine what Fabrice's family are going through right now and my thoughts are with them.

I remember a former Posh player called David Longhurst who died on the pitch having suffered a heart attack (1990). I remember this as I watched him play for Posh many times and this incident happened shortly after we had sold him to York.

Wow so much different reports on this, this in Guardian

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/mar/19/fabrice-muamba-signs-improvement

Hopefully this is true, truly horrible.  Just insane that someone in such phenomenal physical condition is just as susceptible as anyone to this stuff, guess the lesson here is never to take life for granted and make the most of every day, as you never know what can happen.

He was from Corby (went to the same school as I did), and remember the shock when he died.

Then when I was in sixth form, a lad who was a friend of mine was playing football and he collapsed and died on the football pitch. He was a fit, popular lad who played football semi professionally and until the post mortem they had no idea what happened. It revealed he had a heart that resembled one of a forty year old man with heart disease. A heart scan like the premier league footballers have would have shown the condition before it killed him.

His condition has improved according to Evening Standard website, he's now answering questions and recognising family members.

Also excellent piece in the Evening Standard by Benoit Assou-Ekotto today

All remaining Italian games have been postponed as a mark of respect.

Sky News - Fabrice Muamba is discharged - absolutetly amazing and even talk of him playing again - props to the Doctor and the Hospital
