Title: A profile, with a difference Post by: TightEnd on March 20, 2012, 07:58:06 PM Back in 2006, a year or so into the forum's life, we started the Profiles "child"board for people to answer some questions about themselves
318 have done so since. All of them have some interesting things n them, but essentially its a quiet part of the forum that I doubt many people visit any more Today a new member signed up. "Permanent Quandary" "Who?" I pondered earlier as I checked his sign up details, IP etc. Just in case he was about to sell us a number plate, you understand My question was soon answered He created a profile, on which we learn he is Adam, a dealer at DTD. I probably know Adam by sight, but can't put a face to a name until I am next there Anyway, his profile. Have a read of this. Including the later questions http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=57160.0 :D :dontask: ;gobsmacked; all apply It's reminded me, the questions haven't altered for 5 years, so that's another job for the list If you haven't done a profile, fill one in. Always good to know more about the posters on here.... Title: Re: A profile, with a difference Post by: pokerfan on March 20, 2012, 08:14:09 PM Maybe it's a quiet part of the forum because we can't reply. Never understood that or questioned it either , there have been a few profiles up where I have wanted to ask a question after reading.
No need with Mr Quandary though, well above and beyond the call of duty that one. Good read. Title: Re: A profile, with a difference Post by: KarmaDope on March 20, 2012, 08:14:34 PM rotflmfao
Title: Re: A profile, with a difference Post by: sm00035 on March 20, 2012, 08:15:24 PM Some incredible profiles in there, never even seen that part of the forum before!
Also loling at how many people list Howard Lederer as their poker hero! Title: Re: A profile, with a difference Post by: bobby1 on March 20, 2012, 08:25:33 PM Tremendous effort by Mr Quandary. I reckon most people would like to update theirs Tighty, is it possible?
Title: Re: A profile, with a difference Post by: zerofive on March 20, 2012, 08:32:01 PM Tremendous effort by Mr Quandary. I reckon most people would like to update theirs Tighty, is it possible? Yeah I read through it. I'm well acquainted with the guy already so wasn't surprised to see a massive profile filled out. Would be interesting to see what people have to write these days, though, especially if we can leave it side by side with what's already down from years and years ago. Title: Re: A profile, with a difference Post by: TightEnd on March 20, 2012, 08:36:24 PM I'll see what I can do
I cannot remember why th board is set to "locked" for replies, there would have been a good reason. Title: Re: A profile, with a difference Post by: cambridgealex on March 20, 2012, 09:20:15 PM I honestly think that is the first time anyone has referred to me as a really cool guy.
What a legend! Title: Re: A profile, with a difference Post by: RH12 on March 20, 2012, 10:08:02 PM As a relative newcomer, I was thinking about filling one of these in to 'introduce' myself to the forum......however after reading that i dont feel anywhere near articulate enough, mine would mainly be one word or short sentence answers! Title: Re: A profile, with a difference Post by: Laxie on March 20, 2012, 10:11:17 PM Tremendous effort by Mr Quandary. I reckon most people would like to update theirs Tighty, is it possible? It is. Just updated mine thanks to your reminder. Title: Re: A profile, with a difference Post by: Longy on March 20, 2012, 10:26:15 PM Tremendous effort by Mr Quandary. 7 years later and the only answer I'd change is: "What are your greatest accomplishments in poker? Not having to work for 5 years! Winning a big event at the Vic." Replace 5 with 12 and that's sorted. Title: Re: A profile, with a difference Post by: Simon Galloway on March 20, 2012, 11:36:57 PM Wafer thin.

Title: Re: A profile, with a difference Post by: taximan007 on March 21, 2012, 03:11:54 AM Now that's what you call A PROFILE. well done that man.
Who are your poker heroes? Big names wise: Tony G, Luke Schwartz, Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Phil Galfond, Doyle Brunson, Ray Zee, David Sklansky, and Sammy Farha Other names: Definitely Joey Knish in Rounders. Bart Hanson. Tony Tikay Kendall. Kara Scott. Joe Tall. Mark Gregorich. Pretty much anyone from the old Poker Night Live show, including Simon Trumper. I don't think he knows I admire him but I find him very serious, probably because we keep it strictly business, and him being my boss and his elevation in status makes it difficult for me to talk to him socially at staff parties, it makes me uncomfortable and I don't like that. That latter detail is true for anyone of a higher status than me though. I just don't ask any questions of people like that and I assume they have little interest in me. I understand what you are saying here,I don't know Simon personally but I would bet he isn't that type of guy but I can see why you might think that way, imo if people feel too important(and there are plenty) to listen to you and their juniors then they aren't worth talking to in the 1st place. The day will come when YOU are the senior person and I would think from what you say you will be the type of person to remember how you feel now and be able to make younger/junior people feel at ease in your company. I hope the second part is true. I didn't mean to make it sound like I think he is aloof, rather I create that social gap myself. It's more of a mental block on my part, I am probably preventing myself from being social with him than the other way around which has had a knock on effect of him thinking I don't wanna be social with him. |
