Title: Computer help Faulty graphics card please

Hi looking for some help, my nvidia 8600 gs card is faulty, looks pretty easy to swop over, I need to know can I just buy any old graphics card such as this

or do I need to take anything else in to account such as os?

I see where you went wrong, you're supposed to switch it off and on.

If you're just using it for general use and not high end gaming, then pretty much any pci-e card will do, just turn the computer off again (if it's on, I can't keep up with where were at :D ) unplug the old card from the PSU connector, take out from the motherboard, put the new card in and connect the psu cable.  Close the case and turn on.

Yes, it's as simple as that.

The graphics card you are suggesting to replace it with is a slightly lower spec than the faulty one but it shouldn't make too much, if any noticable, differece.

What do you use it for? Browsing, minor things like that? Do you have PCI Express on your motherboard or just PCI?
