It's a tax on the gambling site's profits and it won't come into effect until December 2014 at the earliest. As Barry Carter said on Twitter, fear not you do not need to join the real world. Forcing (technical industry lingo there :)) for mega streak is the way forward on certain machines. On other machines it's suicide. DONDs can and will happily take £200-£300 off you before caving for example. Thought your strategy was to play poker all weekend, win bugger all, play a bit on the slots and win some - then on the drive home stop at the services and bink the jackpot on the Holy Grail machine and get paid out in pound coins with a load of school kids watching on in awe? From what I understand a tax is going to be imposed at "point of sale" for UK players to offshore companies that enjoy tax breaks and havens. They will not like this and it is going to be one big ball ache to implement. If it is going to cost them money you can be assured the cost will be passed on to the customer.
