Post by: Honeybadger on March 23, 2012, 05:36:30 PM From a theory perspective... I'd have to do some thinking plus maths on this, but this could be one of those spots where we are allowed to fold our entire range without being exploitable in the slightest. It is ok to give opponent spots where he is able to bluff 100% and make us fold our entire range provided he has had to risk a lot of money to possibly be able to get in that spot (i.e. by calling flop and turn).
And from a practical point of view... in my experience these overbet jams are almost always for pure nutted value at 200NL (not played a ton on Ongame though but I assume it's the same). The regs should be working overbet bluffs into their game in certain spots (and this spot is a good one), but they just don't. Title: Re: Whats the worst we call with? Post by: pleno1 on March 23, 2012, 05:55:58 PM its 400 btw so not as many bbs as you may have presumed, but still a big overbet.

Title: Re: Whats the worst we call with? Post by: TommyD on March 26, 2012, 03:32:56 AM To answer your question I need a flush, not sure what spot but I'm doing something with a sigh if my big diamond is less than a queen.
You've donked the flop multiway so anyone thinking on any kind of level knows you must like that flop. By the river every combo draw you might have been donking with has come in, yet they bomb. Now I know what you're thinking, say you donked with a made hand rather than a huge draw (set/two pair etc). The river is a great spot for the villain to turn any hand into a bluff to make you fold every made hand on that flop. Very true but if they're smart enough to think that then they should be smart enough that they don't need to bomb that river, smaller bets work too. I think this is completely for value and they are nut straight or better. I'm including the straight in there unless you give me some history you have with the villain to say you ever check a flush on that river to induce a turn hand into bluff bet on that river when he will be checking back so much. The overbet shove is much more likely to be an attempt to level you into a call rather than out of one at NL200 these days. If he's out played us then just doth your cap and move on. |
