I will be unavailable for my usual standard of railbirding tonight , Ch4 are showing back to back the last 2 episodes of series one of LOST starting at 10pm .... The PC will be on, but my concentration may be elsewhere :)    Although if anyone has WonderMUG on their table, i will be there like a shot ;)

If you download a programme manager called Bitcomet from there .com site (its free)
it puts all the right files in there for you
it also has a lot of torrent sites that you can download anything included in the programme

IF you don't mind your PC grinding to a standstill, I personally use ABC.

I have to agree, it eats up my resources, ABC on the other hand is pretty good at running unnoticed.

Azureus needs java too, and it went boobies up on me recently.

I switched to bitcomet and find it a lot easier to use, seems to download faster than Azureus ever did too.

some software firms use bit torrent for getting out updates without killing there servers

i love azureus and it doesnt kill my machine it can kill your bandwidth if you dont set it up proberly

I got sidetracked from my weekly Lost hit over Christmas so downloaded the rest of series 1, and have just watched the last 5 in one sitting tonight.

Can anyone PM me the details of any good torrent sites they know of. The new series of 24 starts in the US this weekend with two double episodes and I want to get stuck into that next week.

From the short clip C4 showed of Series 2 yesterday it looks great, I'm getting episodes 1-9 on DVD tomorro which is good, can't wait till they show them on the TV.

Without giving too much away does it follow on straight away from last episodes cliffhanger? I promised my flatmates I wouldn't watch it until tonight... despite having it here now!

If you have ABC all you need to do is go to a torrent site like, mininova.org and search for the torrent you want, download the torrent and off you go!

whats a decent download speed for this on broadband?   Currently runnning at a mighty 4.5kb/s ... will be on Ch4 before its finished at this rate?

4.5KB/s is  poor for Broadband. I get 600KB/s on 3Mb broadband NTL, think they updated speeds to 5Mb for everyone tho.


I think 1Mb broadband should get you about 80 - 120 KB/s

I know there are llooaaddss of torrent sites these days, but too many people on them downloading, and not uploading, so speed sucks.

POTUK Tracker currently has 54 downloaders of Series 2, Episode 10

so who can recommend a good utlity for converting avi files to mpeg format so I can burn then to dvd.

Cant seem to find any good "free" ones, which do the whole file.

I watch them on the PC then delete them

Nero will burn avi's straight onto DVD for you too

I had convinced the misses the Gunshot killed him - oh how you have spoilt MY fun.

This is so damm slow. I have only downloaded 5.7% so far. In that time, I have gone out a run with my dogs, cooked a spaghetti Bolonaise, and re-organised my CD collection. Is this normal?....I am using torrent spy.

Older torrents take time as less people have them, it is a few months old now.

look for torrents with the most seeds

the more seeds the quicker the download
