Title: 60photos.com
Post by: jjandellis on March 30, 2012, 01:40:38 PM
I have had a facebook wall post come through as saying that a friend has voted 'nicepic' on one of my photos. When I checked to see what it was I was routed through to an app by 60photos.com.

I am a little concerned about this and was wondering if anyone knows:

1. Does this give other random users a means to view this pic?

2. Does it give other random users the means to see ALL my pics?

3. If yes to any of the above, how do I get my pics unsubscribed from the site?

Obviously I would not be too happy about random strangers being able to access pics on my profile, especially ones with my kids in.

Any ideas?

I took a quick look at this site/app and from what I can tell it's a pretty horrible privacy issue that I don't see a way around.

If you have photos on FB.

And have friends on FB who can view your pictures.

If those friends have added the 60 photos app then the app can view all photos that your friends could.

Other than finding out what friends have the app and blocking their access to your photos I don't see a solution.

Even that may be too late as I'd imagine a piece of software like that will scoop up and friends' friends photos the moment it can.

Not good.

I just went to the website to see it's security / privacy policy and it's pretty vague.

Also it pops up a massive green NEXT button which under says "This site needs login with Facebook to continue".

I'm pretty sure pressing that green NEXT button will authorise 60 photos access to you and your friends Facebook accounts.

Nasty and devious.

Thanks guys my thoughts exactly.

I have asked my mate WTF he thinks he's doing. Would it work if I defriend and the re-add him?

I would think that the moment a friend added the app, 60 photos would be sucking up all friends of friends photo albums within seconds.  So No.
