Title: The Irish Open thread
Post by: TightEnd on April 02, 2012, 11:43:44 AM
The Irish Poker Open is the longest running No Limit Texas Hold 'em poker tournament in Europe and second longest in the world after the World Series of Poker, Las Vegas.

First organized in 1981 by Terry Rogers, a well known Irish bookmaker, the tournament has experienced tremendous growth over the years. Well known for the electric atmosphere and character like no other, this poker festival is now a firm fixture on the international poker calendar and a 'must attend' for many of the top poker players in the world.

The Irish Open 2012 will take place from 6 - 9 April 2012 in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin. The buy in is set at €3,200 + €300

names confirmed for the Irish Open, include:

    * Daniel Negreanu
    * Phil Hellmuth
    * Carlos Mortensen
    * James Dempsey
    * David Ulliot
    * Eoghan O'Dea
    * Marvin Rettenmaier
    * Tobias Reinkemeier
    * Faraz Jaka
    * Maria Ho

All these players will be taking part in iSeriesLive - a revolutionary new interactive poker series that allows you to watch top poker players live with hole cards exposed, and bet on the action as it happens. The first event takes place at this year's Irish Open

The whole book looks nice for PP. 10 runners, longest odds 10/1, shortest 11/2.

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to working out a book but even I know that can't be good.

What does it work out at % wise Trigg? How do you work it out? I'd assume 10/1 is 10%, 8/1 is 12.5% etc and you just add them all together?

an easy way is to add up the number of pounds at the price to make 100 so that is a percentage of market. 3/1 = 25  so 25%   7/2 = 22  22% and add them all up

Not even looked but can add 50 points onto any player in field that paddy power quote and back it with me, add 100 if they quoted Negreanu and Hellmuth

So if Joe Bloggs is 200-1, he is 250-1 with me. Negreanu is 150-1, he is 250-1 with me

Eh, come on, there .are gonna be 600 runners, so should be 500-1 to win and 60-1 final table which gives you a nice margin :). I can't remember how to play and even when I could, I never made day 2's anyway.

Can I have mates rates at these prices please, 1k to hit final table and £200 to win, that's not gonna hurt after  your WPT Dubins win :)

Thanks in advance Dave, cheers Rob

Bets off- gonna take one on the chin, obviously ive got the best of it in every bet, but nearly all of them are against people i know and like- for the sake of winning a few quid id rather these people win.

Although Rob i just spoke to Flushy about taking action, and i nearly had him text u saying 1k@250s and 3k@30s but we said too tilted if u won, and would get buried on blonde lol

iSeriesLive starts at 6pm

Watch via www.iserieslive.com, bet via Paddy Power

Viewers can bet on a variety of outcomes including winner, next out, top two, last longers, winner of the next hand, odds that an ace is dealt, red or black flops etc

Some examples

Current Odds

Winner

Negreanu 11/2
Hellmuth 13/2
Ho 10/1
Rettenmaier 8/1
Dempsey 8/1
Jaka 8/1
O'Dea 7/1
Ulliott 8/1
Mortensen 7/1
Reinkemaier 15/2

First out

Negreanu 10/1
Hellmuth 17/2
Ho 6/1
Rettenmaier 7/1
Dempsey 7/1
Jaka 13/2
O'Dea 8/1
Ulliott 15/2
Reinkemaier 15/2
Mortensen 17/2

Top two finish

Negreanu 5/2
Hellmuth 11/4
Ho 9/2
Rettenmaier 4/1
Dempsey 7/1
Jaka 7/2
O'Dea 3/1
Ulliott 7/2
Reinkemaier 3/1
Mortensen 3/1

Last longer Hellmuth 5/6 versus Negreanu Evens

Flushy 7/1 top 2 looks a stand out bet to me, compared to the book on offer. Right, wrong?

Who are the people in the commentary box ?

Not "Super standard" to get 25bbs in with AQos vs Hellmuth really, more Super standard online players failing to adjust to live players, just saying :)

yes. Had a great WSOP last year, and results at home since

Game has come on more than a ton.

Good luck to him today

Thought so. Met him @ Binions last year, he seems to have a flair for poker, & he deffo livened the table up with his chatter, which was, I hasten to add, all good-natured, none of the spiteful stuff. Not sure how he'd handle a beat - always an interesting clue to character - because I departed before he did. I had an appointment elsewhere, obv.

Did anyone see Dixie's interview in the bar after he busted? He was in some form ;D

Told a story that he never had enough for his buy in even after having 300 quid on a 11/2 shot horse and borrowed a monkey of his mate to make up his entry - Great story to come away with 160k.

He seems a bit of a reckless player but i suppose that is the beauty of tournament poker, anyone can get a big touch if they run well.

Wow really that's a sweet story..
Although I've not watched or looked to see how it's panned out after Marc "machine" Wright busted  :'(

If Dixie had won, we might as well have all given up.

Congrats to the winner.

Every final has em Keith and to be fair to him he is good company at the table ( not sure I could put up with him in my regular game ). I hope people are saying the same about me this weekend :)
