Title: Panini Sticker Albums
Post by: Matt.NFFC. on April 06, 2012, 11:55:49 AM
Does anyone still collect these as an adult?  I remember as a kid collecting the football stickers every season and the bargaining tools used in the playground were epic.....1 foil badge was worth 3 players etc etc.

Now that I have kids I'm gonna use it as an excuse to possibly start collecting the Euro 2012 collection.  Problem is, I'll have nobody to do all the swaps with!!!

I used to enjoy looking at my dads collections from the 70's, it used to be quite a read looking at all the stats (and haircuts) that were in the albums.

Maybe we could have a bit of a swap club if there were a few of us who still find this amusing!

Anyone got any memories of playground arbitrage?

Swapsies... My shiny St Mirren badge is worth at least three non shinies. My brother bought a load of completed world cup ones from ebay a number of years ago, they looked fantastic in his hallway. When his missus moved in they moved out, that reminds me I may get on the case and get some freebies. I think he had albums from as early as 74, thats when world cups were proper!!

I must of had about 600 of Ian Wright's legs. Seemed to be in every packet. Took me forever to get the Spurs badge shiny though. No idea what happened to my albums.

Bought the album and a pack of euro 2012 ones a few weeks back. They are some sort of bloody game though, no numbers to stick them it, its like top trumps or somet. Threw them in the bin :(

Almost finish 2010 world cup one,   this has reminded me to hunt down the missing ones on ebay!

You sure it was the stickers and not some trading card thing that they do?

The recent stuff is ruined by the fact that half the clubs don't allow their image rights to be used so you get pictures of players with an airbrushed kit.

God knows how much pocket money I sunk into Panini books in the 80s.  I'm still missing one sticker from Football 82 too, which never turned up as part of the last 50 request.  Anyone got any swaps!

Great times collecting these back in the day.

Remember collecting the World Cup '90 stickers.  It wasn't a normal album, you had to buy it week by week and it had a ring binder to put them in.

I was in 3rd year juniors (year 5 in new money) and remember 1 kid needed Kevin Sheedy of Ireland to complete and was offering all his swaps if you had it, and this kid had a mountain of swaps!!!!  I managed to get it of another kid and give it to him.  I was like an agent!!!!

Great days!!!!

I loved collecting these back in the late 80s - I think 85/86 was my first one, but the only one I completed was either 87/88 or 88/89 - which I did twice!

I have a friend from school who supports Middlesbrough and Aberdeen. He lives in west wales. He supports them because they were the first teams he completed in his first (86/87?) album!

Some great stories here......this was why I started the thread really, hearing some funny tales of what went on around the country.  I can't believe the school in a previous post has banned them.

This was where your trading and bargaining skills were first acquired!

Anyway....off to buy a Euro 2012 starter pack F**k it!

My school banned coin toss as it was a form of gambling. I took many a schoolboy's pocket money at that game.

I loved the fact most kids would know exactly who they needed by memory with the, got, got, need, need- then walk off the playground into a Maths lesson and go to mush!

Then spend lunch time negoicating whether a double st mirren sticker the other kid needed to complete them team, was worth 3 + a foil badge (and that was like opening a wonka bar with a golden ticket in from what I could remember!!) then again go back into a economics class and not have a clue!

Magic days
