If I had your talent I would have sold at £800 for 1% before the tourney had even started :) Was probably worth way more than this earlier. Average prize was 114k euro, and he had double the average stack. Adjusting for ICM and chip stacks, it was probably worth close to double your figure. ofc, things now changed, but still think you are underselling him. Pre tournament, his pricing is fine, players who may be no better than average mugging their "friends" on facebook is not a good way to set the baseline. The very best players on the internet have an ROI of around 50% at decent stakes. Anyway gl Marc, keep grinding them down Title: Re: EPT BERLIN Post by: millidonk on April 20, 2012, 04:07:39 PM Marc Wright got lucky to eliminate the always chirpy Heinz Kamutzki. Tbh i Wouldn't expect to be paid by tues from someone who cashed a local comp for a bowl on the wknd let alone an EPT abroad for 100K. Gotta give you credit mate, clearly made paying stakers asap your priority, its clear to see and it's appreciated. Buying anything nice or is it just a case of having more grinding tokens and bill money? Should we be expecting a last minute Monaco staking thread? Title: Re: EPT BERLIN Post by: railtard1 on April 24, 2012, 11:01:45 AM Barclays was 1.31, but would take 14 days because I had it all in 500 euro notes, and apparently there the biggest form
of fraud in the world! Less than 1% over spot rate + no worries about carrying a huge amount of cash around with you. The cash desk will sort it for you, all you need is your SWIFT number which your bank will give you. Title: Re: EPT BERLIN Post by: railtard1 on April 24, 2012, 12:10:49 PM Rates vary bank to bank and you're bloody lucky to only swallow 1% IMO but agreed normally is better conversion than cash, but at least this way flushy gets a few bob which is good for everyone ;) Lol Title: Re: EPT BERLIN Post by: The Camel on April 24, 2012, 12:12:06 PM Rates vary bank to bank and you're bloody lucky to only swallow 1% IMO but agreed normally is better conversion than cash, but at least this way flushy gets a few bob which is good for everyone ;) No disrespect to Flushy (and congrats if he can get it!) but 4% is shocking. If you go to your bank and tell them how much currency you have got and how you got the funds you will be able to negoiate a fair rate. 4% is fine and fair enough for a few hundred quids worth. For nearly 100 grand you should never pay more than 2% Title: Re: EPT BERLIN Post by: railtard1 on April 24, 2012, 12:13:41 PM Too late now obviously, but for the future: by far the best way to get paid out is a direct bank transfer from the casino to your bank. Less than 1% over spot rate + no worries about carrying a huge amount of cash around with you. The cash desk will sort it for you, all you need is your SWIFT number which your bank will give you. Yeh know for next time, thanks Title: Re: EPT BERLIN Post by: Rupert on April 24, 2012, 03:21:57 PM Set up Euro account, get funds wired there, use service like FXGlobalTransfer (Oanda)-> less than 0.5% vig. Lloyds and Barclays both do foreign currency accounts for no fee.

Obviously to anyone the best way is a wire xfer again if anyone gets in this spot can always ask us for a rate if we can't do better than your bank then you've lost nothing.

Admittedly this is not as good as we have done in the past but it was mainly down to the fact that the wholesalers are weary of the euro volatility so don't want to hold lots of cash, especially €500 notes. It also involved picking up from Plymouth.
Lil Dave and James Mitchell have both used our services for US $ again involving pickups from home and got exceptionally good rates. Sorry we couldn't get any better but prices are driven by forces out of our control. As I said you can always get a no obligation quote from us but remember wire xfers are going to beat cash transfers when you are talking large amounts. Title: Re: EPT BERLIN Post by: Marky147 on April 24, 2012, 06:15:36 PM When I win the lot in Vegas this summer Demps I'll ring you to collect all my $ when I get home :D
Congrats again Marc vwp and I'm sure the big one will come in Vegas so get out there!! Pls to be selling enough action that it takes more than 11 minutes to sell out though.... Title: Re: EPT BERLIN Post by: railtard1 on April 24, 2012, 06:24:54 PM flushy is telling complete truth.
barclays were funny about them being in 500euro notes. apparently its the biggest form of fraudulent note in the world! flushy and his partner were professional and quick. I rcvd the money within 48 hours, and 1.278 rate or whatever was BETTER than that offerd by barclays (1.31) would reccomend and defo use again! Sorry we couldn't get any better but prices are driven by forces out of our control. Can confirm, I got a decent chunk of $'s changed in cash sorted 1 week after I got back to the uk, I think I lost something like 1.5% off the spot rate with no exchange fee's and considering it was delivered t my door (in a lol sainsburys bag!) I was really delighted with the service. Another thing to remember about flushy's service is you can 100% trust it, I don't know about anyone else but when dealing with 5-6figure sums (speshly in cash) I would happily sacrifice a SMALL vig to have it handled by someone I can trust, and with recourse - as in if something goes wrong or I'm not happy about something I can ring flushy up and speak to him. This is defo worth something. Never one to disagree with the Camel, but you must be super careful wiring foreign cage -> your UK bank as different banks have different charges for different situations, for example I was trying to wire money from vegas -> UK and i'd have ended up losing near on 5.5% after the budget bank EX rate, and the fee's. I've set up an account with L-TSB where it holds £/$/euro, no fee's except a very small admin fee for oversea's transaction (£4 or something) and it has debit cards for each so makes moving money around everywhere easier. I think dealing bank-->bank with this stuff is the best way to get closer to the spot. Title: Re: EPT BERLIN Post by: Girgy85 on April 24, 2012, 07:28:01 PM Need a driver?
Title: Re: EPT BERLIN Post by: The Camel on April 25, 2012, 10:58:57 PM Obviously you don't walk into your local Barclays with a plastic bag full of cash and ask for it to be changed.
Local banks are clueless. Call the foreign exchange desk. Explain what has happened, direct them to pokernews and let them see the result. 500 Euro notes are not banned in this country. Then ask them for an offer. 2% is the absolute maximum I would pay. Title: Re: EPT BERLIN Post by: Royal Flush on April 26, 2012, 12:52:12 AM The problem is pretty much exclusively for €500 bills Keith, since a ban was put on place on UK banks/Change bureaus being allowed to hand them out. It's hard to get a great rate on something when its illegal to sell it here lol

It's hard to get a great rate on something when its illegal to sell it here lol The ban is on banks giving out 500 bills, not accepting them. I changed some after Amsterdam last winter. They were wary at first, but after I showed them the result on pokernews, they changed them immediately. Title: Re: EPT BERLIN Post by: railtard1 on April 26, 2012, 02:07:10 PM the premier banking manager in barclays knows what i do, was following the stream in germany and new where the money came from. Yet as soon as i said it was 500euro notes his expression changed. The "preferential" rate i was going to get was 1.31 as a premier customer, but this still would of taken up to 14 days he said.
Flushy's partner was able send me £ to bank within 48 hours, at 1.28, AND they collected the cash from me (i live in cornwall). I will 100% use them again if i have no other way of doing it. Thanks again |
