Title: Help required please (get taxi a new camera)
Post by: taximan007 on April 14, 2012, 05:48:10 AM
OK so I want to buy a new camera, I have been an avid reader of the camera club thread and have followed the links to different cameras people are using.

You will know how much I like pictures in my time here but I have always been a point and shoot cameraman (and not always good at that)

I have always liked the Canon SLR range but having spoke with Rex recently it appears you need to spend as much if not more on lenses than the camera itself and I don't think I can justify spending that sort of money.

So I have looked at a few bridge cameras and I am thinking one of these would be more than suitable for me as I shall probably still end up just pointing an clicking.

The question is which camera to buy and why? I think that maybe 2 questions!!!

I would be glad of any advice/links as to cameras that you have bought. are they good value. simple to use, the usual stuff.

I think I would be looking at spending £300 max unless something around that price was extraordinarily good

Thank you in advance........

I think sometimes the best advice you can get is from consumer ratings, so whichever site you use, just read the consumer ratings.

You could definitely get a very good camera for half your budget.

I don't think you have seen my buying stuff thread in betting section. But I spun up a camera the other week, i did a fair but of research before purchasing.
In the end i went with The Nikon Coolpix P510 bridge camera. Can be found for £299 online, Most powerful zoom on market, loads of cool features, full hd recording, great or beginners etc. That gets my vote anyway.
