(I have no idea why this event was retained - it must be easier to get to Belgium than Thanet) Title: Re: Thanet gukpt Post by: AlunB on April 26, 2012, 11:50:34 AM 2 (I have no idea why this event was retained - it must be easier to get to Belgium than Thanet) Presumably because they spent a ton of money on a casino and want to promote it? Title: Re: Thanet gukpt Post by: Lucky on April 26, 2012, 01:42:08 PM 2 ( - it must be easier to get to Belgium than Thanet) It depends where you start from. Title: Re: Thanet gukpt Post by: AlexMartin on April 26, 2012, 02:15:35 PM guess ill be swerving that then, shame really, 6max comps with a decent structure and decent buyin are fun.
Title: Re: Thanet gukpt Post by: TightEnd on April 26, 2012, 02:36:31 PM guess ill be swerving that then, shame really, 6max comps with a decent structure and decent buyin are fun. got a bit of local input for you "I would prob guess at 40/60 but that's with out the online satellites, I know in casino 18 seats have been won plus satellite tonight, and prob get few London and Brighton players so possibly 60/80" Title: Re: Thanet gukpt Post by: AlexMartin on April 26, 2012, 03:09:21 PM hmmmmmmm interesting, cheers sir tighty.
Title: Re: Thanet gukpt Post by: luckyblind on April 26, 2012, 06:51:31 PM Just back from casino, they have over 20 pre-qualified not including the half dozen or so internet qualifiers and there is another live satellite tonight. Anything over 50 is a success when you compare it to the summer series numbers in previous years. Numbers in side events have been better than Stockton apart from the Omaha last night.
Casino is pretty nice but much the same as any other G. From what I have seen today from the staff they are pretty decent bunch down here. Title: Re: Thanet gukpt Post by: toddswain on April 27, 2012, 02:05:04 PM Press Officer GUKPT @GUKPT_Updates Reply Retweet Favorite · Open

Title: Re: Thanet gukpt Post by: tikay on April 30, 2012, 06:34:45 AM 67 players in the end. Dear old Albert Sapiano, aka Saga Heater, won it, with Steve Bovis 2nd. Steve was a very sick man 4 or 5 years ago, when some serious medical complications arose after a motoring accident, & I was pleased to see he seems to have lost a bunch of weight, & is in much better health. Well done both of them. Title: Re: Thanet gukpt Post by: Junior Senior on April 30, 2012, 02:59:43 PM Wow. Steve Bovis. He had a good run about 6 years ago. Just assumed he was not around any more and had stopped playing.

It may have been slightly longer back, maybe 7 or 8 years, but he became quite ill & was not on the scene for a goodly while. I'm not particularly a friend of his, though we get on OK, I'm just so pleased he is better now, & judging from the photos, looking it, too. Great news. Most impressed with the camera fitted to the dealer's head - proper "Dealer-Cam" that. In fact, I could have taken those...... Title: Re: Thanet gukpt Post by: tikay on April 30, 2012, 03:50:50 PM Albert's a legend! I love him to bits. One of a kind, Albert. I was at The Venetian last year, & he arrived at my Table @ 2pm for a noon start. I gently chided him for his tardy timekeeping, & had a little jibe, "don't tell me, you played the noon Ceasars already & busted out?" Quick as a flash, & sincerely, he shot back "Yeah, I busted the Noon Caesars AND the 1pm Aria"......followed, as ever, by the usual Albert bad-beat story about "calling stations"! He then proceeded to send the kids on our table totally giddy with his "any two" game, & busted almost every one of them, each of whom shuffled away chuntering at how bad he was. He had to return home to the UK early, as he needed an eye operation, but I saw him after that, & he said it went just fine.
