Title: GPS Edinburgh package SOLD OUT
Post by: Suited_Jock on April 27, 2012, 08:33:27 AM
Hi All,

Following on from my UKIPT Nottingham staking thread which I am grateful for all the interest
I am going to be playing the Genting Poker Series £100+9 side event and the £400+30 Day 1B of the main event on the 30th May / 1st of June. I’m not really one for adding markup to stakes so this will be at spot. I do not plan to re-enter so the % is based on one entry only.

This event is being held at my local casino which I visit frequently, I will have a decent amount of knowledge of how alot of the field will play and believe this can be useful.

I am looking to sell 25%( changed to 30%) of my action for the two events and this breaks down at

5% = £26.95
10%= £53.90

About me :

I have been playing for ten years mainly online but have experience in live MTT’s from £1k festival events right up to $8k buyin WPT’s. I have been an active member of the online communites during this time and already know alot of you from both online and live tournies.

Online Stats:
Stars: mattymillne (OPR)
Sky Poker: suitedjock
Full Tilt: matt7184
Genting: Stammertime91
Hendon Mob:  (Matthew Milne)

2012 has been a bit of a comeback year for me After losing a large chunk of my bankroll when F** T*** closed and coupled with my first child being brought into the world both time and money have been a luxury for me and I took a long  break from poker.

However this year the poker bug has bitten hard and I have started playing again with some decent results both online and live at my local casino 2FT’s from 7 visits and up over 1400BB’s in live cash for 2012 ..

I have won satellites to both UKIPT’s this season which I played in Galway and Nottingham, where I unfortunately bust in the last level of day 1 in galway and 2nd last level in Nottingham.

Career Achivevements

Biggest Online Cash win $11.8k Littlewoods MTT (Matt7184)
Biggest Online Package win - WPT PCA '05 $12k - busted 3 levels from the end of day 1b two pair < AA for a top 5 stack.
Prima Poker Rounders SNG's >$15k profit (Matt_7184 bet365)
Biggest live Win - $2.2k - Sahara $75 Friday night tournament

.Any questions please ask, payment via Bank Transfer or Stars/Genting xfer preferred.

Will be tweeting during the event for the sweat from my account @scottishbolt

Thanks for reading

Tikay - 10%
Fun4Fraser - 20% - PAID

Hey guys,

I've ended up winning a seat into this event but it ended up being an added extra for busting Joe Beevers, with that I have to play as a "Genting Sponsored Player" meaning i'm only keeping 50% of myself.

Which puts me in a pretty bad spot as I don't really want to sell 80% of myself so I'm going to withdraw this request for staking.

I'm still going to play the £109 on thursday night on my own dime so you are welcome to keep that % if you want, but understand if you just want to leave it.

Let me know what you want and I'll ship you back the monies F4F

How come you are trying to sat into an event you have sold equity in? Seems pretty bad form to me.

Title: Re: GPS Edinburgh package SOLD OUT
Post by: Suited_Jock on May 09, 2012, 10:22:34 PM
Not quite sure what your getting at Jezza, Didn't think I was doing anything sinister by playing sats to an event I was always intending on playing and had I won the satellite outright the percentages sold wouldn't have changed. I ended up getting lucky and winning a seat as an added promotion.

I've sent tikay and f4f a PM advising them of this too, think i am being completley transparent with this and if it turns out people choose not to stake me again then so be it.. As I mentioned in my original post, i don't have a huge roll but think I am +EV in an event like this hence why I was taking a shot at this even though it would be normally a bit rich for me.

I may well be being oversensitive but it just seems wrong to ask for and get staked into an event and then pull the stake when you cop a satellite . It is unethical and rude.

I don't think this exact situation comes along too often..

If I just binked a satellite i would still be offering the stakes at the start of this thread.. the additional monies set aside would just go into my bankroll.

The seat I actually won is a promotional event meaning I play the event but only for 50% of myself.

TBH before entering the sat I didnt realise that the bounty seat was won in this way figured it was just a normal seat.. T&C's are here: http://www.gentingpoker.com/bonuses-promotions/GPS+Bounty+Sat/ if you don't understand what im talking bout.

I've been a member of blonde and lots of other forums for a many years and really resent being called unethical, rude or of "bad form", in an online poker world full of cheats and scammers I'd like to think my reputation is pretty good thx.

I can't see anybody expecting suited jock to honour the staking deal in these particular circumstances.

It is absolutely fine to try and sat in when staked.  If he'd won a standard seat then the staking deal clearly wouldn't have been cancelled.  As a regular staker, I can't say I'd be upset if somebody satted in.

It is more than a little off to come on here and have a go, this is clearly an unusual situation and can't see any staker wanting to force someone to honour the original deal.

I think offering tikay and fraser 5% or so each would be good for karma before the tourney.

I understand the situation so its no problem & I dont see it as giving back word ( Im sure Tikay will think the same  )

Ive sent you a pm as regards sending the money back so go and win it and Ill let you buy me a beer     :)

Good Luck

Fraser

PS   Thanks for the Good Post Doobs .

Morning.

I have replied to your PM.

I'm very happy to keep my stake in the sidey, & have sent you my Bank Details for refunding the stake in the Main Event.

I'm with Doobs & Fraser here, perhaps I am naive to the nuances involved, but I'm perfectly happy with the OP's stance, & wish him the vey best of luck.

I "write off" all my staking investments as soon as I make them, so technically, I'm in profit on this one now.....it will go in the sparsely populated "Returns" column now!

An aside

what is the point of winning the bounty seat if GPS are going to take 50% of any result?

All you get in exchange is to be interviewed by Marty, have a photograph and wear a polo shirt?

Seems a lot less valuable than just winning a normal satellite seat and keeping 100%?

Title: Re: GPS Edinburgh package SOLD OUT
Post by: tikay on May 10, 2012, 10:33:37 AM

Bit of a flip-flop here.

It transpires that I never paid for the Stake, as OP said "send it nearer the time".

When I send money for Staking, I ALWAYS Post accordingly on thread, & usually send a copy of the Payment Confirmation to the seller. I did neither here, so it looks like I never paid anyway. Potential grim thwarted.

Job done, good luck Mr Jock, next case.

I agree. It wasn't until after I won the seat and saw the T's and C's that I went shit!

Not gonna lie I'm running pretty bad in sats on genting. I am 0/10 with two direct bubbles, Which is almost as much as a seat in itself so I decided to cut my losses and sell a % and buyin for the rest. Saw such a small field while grinding on Sunday played it and won that bounty. I bust him twice fwiw first one he rebought though :)

Would have still gone ahead with the arrangement had I won the seat I was actually playing for.

I didnt want to curb your enthusiasm but I thought exactly the same

Sounds like a bad deal to me...surely you have won a seat or you havent.......Half a seat sucks , though not uncommon to be "hidden" clauses in i poker /genting small print

These bounty satellites (£20 entry/£10 rebuy)  have a GTD £430 seat with a min of just 5 runners. The bounty seat is  "free extra value" for those that play.

You can/could transfer it to someone else if you want.

You can use it at any other leg ; ie the online leg.

Not only that, there are some very easy bounties coming up. :D

He knocked joe out twice? So does the seat only go to the person who knocks him out after the re entry period then.

Just noticed a lot of peeps on actionjacks site are changing their usernames today. What's that all about

So why isn't Suited Jock continuing with the stake and using the bounty seat in another event?

So why isn't Suited Jock continuing with the stake and using the bounty seat in another event?

Perhaps because he would not wish to travel to other events - this one is local to him, I assume.

Just thinking out loud...with the GPS there is an obvious advantage if you have the back up of a re buy in your game plan, especially as most players won't rebuy.

Maybe you could use the staking seat as the rebuy if you need it.....then there's the added sweat of will he /wont he  :)

Good luck anyway Suited.....see you on the Friday.

I have  got a couple of seats from sats
was planning on playing stoke or Sheffield and or on line
had the bounty spam and  had played one with no joy
Did not realise this small print existed  will not be playing any more of these

of to read spam to see if it is obvious

this was spam email think its really bad it doesnt say win 50% of a £430 BUY IN

"Joe Beevers - with a cool £430 Bounty

This week Joe "The Elegance" Beevers steps into the Bounty Hunter's sights, playing our new Sunday GPS Bounty Tournament.

Not only can you qualify for a £430 token for a GPS event of your choice, but if you knock out Joe you will also win an added value sponsored seat, which is added on top of any prize pool generated!  You could experience what it is like being a sponsored player!
Tournament Name: GPS Bounty Sat
Time: Every Sunday 6pm
Buy-in: £20+£2 with £10 R/A
This Weeks Bounty: Joe Beevers (nickname: Joe Beevers)

Last week's GPS Bounty Satellite generated 2 seats from the prize pool plus, the added value seat for LiveGrinderK when he knocked out the bounty player!"

When / if you click through for more details it does explain

"Note: The seat you are winning is a sponsored seat, therefore you will play as a sponsored player. 50% of any money you win as a sponsored player in that event will be paid back to your sponsor (Genting), but remember the Bounty seat is ADDED value, it is not being deducted from the Satellite prize pool."

think it would be better if this was contained within main email rather than a click thro

Good Post...this just shows how ambiguous  and mis leading their spam e mail was. A couple more people have since contacted me and told me they had won a seat too but were unaware of the 50% clause

The following line is pretty bad especially if you have to travel all the way to Edinburgh.

"A couple more people"??....there has only been two "bounty sats" so far....one of which was won by Suited Jock.

"travel all the way to Edinburgh".... as I said before you can use this £430 token for any leg including the online leg in your front room. :) , or even transfer it.

With a sponsored seat, there are obviously going to be some t&c to it, and all the "spam" I've seen, has these attached or linked.

At the end of the day, its  added value when playing in a satellite for at least one GTD "normal" seat.

Genting are worth squillions of £'s. Why would they want 50% of someone's min cash. I doubt that their sponsored players have to give back 50%. But as you say it's a free extra promotion so suited jock is getting a spin at 50% of the prize pool just for taking out Joe so it can't be that bad

Their e mails suggest they won seats ...could of been Fox Club or Star City if not Edinburgh not sure till I speak with them  but what they both confirm is they were not aware of the 50% clause.

As with any freeroll The deal would be fine if the terms were transparant from the outset .

In regards to "there are obviously going to be some t&cs" well its fair to say that  some players would know that sometimes conditions apply ( you may be asked have to wear their logo etc) but not obvious to most recreational or new players who normally are the very people playing the satelites.

Regardless...good luck to anybody who plays...
