Title: Thoughts on Bolton Post by: outragous76 on May 18, 2012, 12:39:30 PM Price/thoughts on relegation to 1st Div?
15 players have left/been released. Is that too many to keep any kind of consistancy? Title: Re: Thoughts on Bolton Post by: TightEnd on May 18, 2012, 12:57:57 PM Big squad to start with, and the released players were only squad players mostly
They have parachute payments for three years, too. Minimum I would expect is top 10, don't expect to see them anywhere near the bottom 6 What happens at Blackburn is more interesting IMO. Despite Venky's involvement, Blackburn don't seem to have anything like this problem. Hence Bolton are far more likely to implode than Blackburn? They have parachute payments for three years, too. If the rumours are true Venky's didn't even know it was possible to be relegated and I know for a fact that they haven't been to Ewood more than once since Xmas. I wouldn't be amazed if they just abandoned Blackburn. I think what Bolton is doing is just sensible. Reducing wage bill etc and I doubt they implode. We'll just have to disagree on this. Which bank is going to extend credit to a championship club which is £100m in debt in the current climate? I am sure they'd love to gamble, but just can't see how they can. Title: Re: Thoughts on Bolton Post by: kinboshi on May 18, 2012, 04:18:09 PM Can't remember if this was posted on here or not:

Title: Re: Thoughts on Bolton Post by: RickBFA on May 18, 2012, 06:37:17 PM I suppose one of the key questions is who do they owe the £100 million plus to?
I don't know anything about Bolton but big difference between owing the money to a friendly super wealthy "fan" investor and owing it to a bank in the current climate. Title: Re: Thoughts on Bolton Post by: RickBFA on May 18, 2012, 06:54:24 PM Bolton's finances: in 2011 net debt £110.6M

Kevin Davies will be a BEAST in the championship. Wolves also have to pay for their stand so won't have much £ to spend, will probably raise £5M or so with Jarvis though. Title: Re: Thoughts on Bolton Post by: Josedinho on May 18, 2012, 09:43:24 PM Wolves top 2 imo. Morgan has plenty of money to spend. Have players like Ebanks-Blake who was nothing in the prem but a very good championship player. Most of their team are their championship team. May lose the likes of Doyle, Fletcher, Jarvis and Kightly but will get plenty of money for any of them.

Title: Re: Thoughts on Bolton Post by: RickBFA on May 18, 2012, 10:40:15 PM Any business that has £46.5M cash outflow in 2 years with a turnover of circa £60M per annum is in serious do-do.
But then maybe I'm just old fashioned about living within your means. They may have a debt, but they will still have a decent enough budget to compete.
For me, Wolves and Leicester will be the ones to look out for. Wolves have yo-yoed for a bit, so been there done that with regards to coming back up. Brighton and Burnely look decent prices, |
