Title: First Staking Request (maybe last) - GPS Edinburgh + Side (Sold Out) Post by: OverTheBorder on May 29, 2012, 01:11:17 PM Good Day
Going to attempt to be as clear as possible in the vain hope of selling and to keep Mr Keys happy. My name is Chris Roberts, I am a recreational player and have played regular for about 10 years in the live arena. I am a financial professional by trade which is anti grimm insurance as financial stains do not sit well in my line of work. I am looking for 25% staking in the Genting Poker Series Main Event £400 + £30 playing day 1B (Friday) and the Thursday night £100+10 side. This is at my local casino and the field will be a high percentage of regulars so I have a fair level of data on the field. I have been a winning player in Edinburgh for many years, although admittedly I was the 2nd worst player in the Luton league last year lol variance innit Staking at spot so 5% = 27 or 10% = 54 Reason for staking is to allow me to play the side as a warm up and to cover the bricked satellite attempts. Which includes getting all in with Aces last night with 5 left, 4 seats, flopping an Ace and being beaten by rivered quads from the chip leader. Part of the stake will be used to professionally clean the vomit from my laptop. Hendon Mob: http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=178987 That is one score from 4 counting tournies, including 2 Deepstacks and 1 GUKPT side. Both deepstacks I made second last level of day 1. If you review the notes of June 2011 you will see I built a pretty good stack through aggressive play, lost it admittedly, but it shows that I do not play scared at the higher levels. I do not play much online, have been scraping about on Stars recently (Rab90) but short sample and probably not of any note. Ths side event is down as a 6 max, I finished top 20 in the Circus six max league this year despite only playing 2 tournaments, finishing 3rd and 4th, which is why I am keen to have this on the schedule. Flame away, its a punt, I am not claiming insane edge etc, I will give a full report of both tournies and will update as I can. Well firstly, they moved it from 6 max to full ring, which was a little annoying! 30 minute level 10k stacks tend to end up a little shovey for my liking but we took our chance. Good first table, cracked Aces with Deuces early for a nice pot. Ground card dead for an age but somehow managed to get to 35k without ever showing down, pretty happy with how I played, picked spots well, several spots I made the best hand fold. Unfortunately bussed out in 23rd (of 70ish) raise to 2600 at 600/1200 (100) we are on button with Jc Qc playing about 26k, its probably a bad flat but player is gunning for us, and I am very comfortable down the streets with him and our hand flops well. flop comes Tc 6c 6h and raiser leads out for 4k, both blinds have called so pretty decent pot. We shove for about 20k more with 2 overs and the flush draw. Raiser almost folds but makes the call with Ac Kd and we miss the world. sigghhhhh if he had not had Ac blocker we maybe get it through! good warm up for tomorrow though! Saving the one time....... We got an absolute joke of a table draw. First live update on the blog confirmed it, Ben Jackson, Paul Jackson, 3 other Pro's and my least favourite local opponent. First two levels fluctuated between 20-30k, setting up a pretty good table image. No hands of real note. Moved to the feature table and the live stream which proved irritating. I ran a bluff, aggro player raises UTG and is called in two spots, we flat the button with 4h 5d as we want to be in pots with this spot. Flop comes down Kh 3h 8c (I think) raiser leads for about 900 is flatted in one position. Now my read is raiser had air, seat 1 had K10 or KJ and I flat with the intention to check raise most turns, especially any hearts. We get a 6h and original raiser leads for 1900 and is flatted in seat 1. I check raise to 4200 which looks joke strong and get both to fold. Unfortunately around 20 minutes later the raiser tells me I know what you had in the hand. Not sure how after 20 minutes, must have been from blog station but this is extremely irritating as I have perceived image and now its destroyed! This and other pots ground us up to about 37k which was very healthy I tried another move and this one got swatted. Possibly due to the above, in hindsight shoulda rocked up with that out there. I took a strong line on a rag bored from a blind spot but unfortunately raiser had flopped bottom set. My line looked so strong he flatted my river bet with the trips, on a draw light board so pretty unlucky for him to set up as he probably folds top pair high pairs with the line. Put my down to 25k and get a scenario which I would welcome opinions on. 100-200 blinds Ben Jackson makes it 450 from early position. We 3 bet to 1100 with Ks Kd Ben 3 bets to 3100. Now my thinking is, with him first to act if we flat here we can probably stack him on any non A board. I know his 4 bet range is so wide that a 5 bet folds out so much and we lock up 3k against other players I 5 bet here. I took the greed line, I am not sure of tournament optimum is to lock down the 3k here, thoughts appreciated? anyways...flop comes down Qh 9h 9s he raises out 2000 playing around 14000 and I min raise trying to enduce shove if he has Q and to take control back as 2 hearts on the board. He flats which I should seen dangers signs with. The heart comes but dont think we are every folding to aggro player with this hand for his 10k left. He checks I chuck out 5k he is all in so I sigh call. and he has Ahrt 9d he flops well! this puts us down to about 8k going into level 5. Exit hand (off feature table now) we raise Qd Jh in late position playing 6k odds to about 850 at 150-300 we have 20+ big blind so still not shove territory. Both blinds call and we get a 8d 8c 9c flop check check and I raise out about 1700 and big blind shoves. So its about 3800 to call. Now with my previously destroyed image I dont think he shoves the 8 here as he probably has me on air and will let me hang myself, if he has the 9 we are getting odds to call with 10 J Q all good and this move reeks of 67 or J10 which we crush. So we sigh call and he has 67 so his 10 draw is dead but we get a 2s turn but a 6s river and its good night Vienna. Really appreciate the stake, sorry we could not get there! We got an absolute joke of a table draw. First live update on the blog confirmed it, Ben Jackson, Paul Jackson, 3 other Pro's and my least favourite local opponent. This is what irritates me about the Genting tour. Hand picked tables so so wrong and ridic and do people REALLY care about watching player XYZ pro on the live stream? (From the live update) Barry burns makes it 27k. Round to Barny who says all in, Paul Jackson asks for a count and announces all in himself! Barry burns screams CALL and it's on their backs, Barry has Aces for 469k all in, Barny has pocket queens and is in for 300k, Paul has AK and misses the lot. Barny Boatman exits in 14th place for £1005. Barry on well over a million. then any other player . Can't believe the player next 2 you with the 9/3 off suit against my aq lol . Must admitt standard very poor compared to gkupt . Away for stoke probably go sheffield . Load of value in the tournie, James who had the 9-3 plays any two cards, he never lasts but is annoying to play with, as he stacks you so often with utter garbage, as law of averages says he hits big once in a while! I am going to try and qualify for Stoke/Sheffield, I wasnt unhappy with how i played, just way too active early, lesson learned would have been you do not win it in day 1! Think the tele table thing was a joke though, why the rail needs to see cards in day 1 is beyond me, that info he got on that hand was invaluable, people assume you are a nit unless they know you, he wouldnt have put me on moves like that, then he gets free info I am capable...sighhhhh! will say hello in Sheffield if I make it Title: Re: First Staking Request (maybe last) - GPS Edinburgh + Side (Sold Out) Post by: pleno1 on June 04, 2012, 10:44:57 AM UL man....esp in the KK v A9 hand We got an absolute joke of a table draw. Well I haven't asked Genting if they do hand pick but I've been to a couple of their events. Every single feature has at least 2 Genting 'pros' followed by a couple of named pros and then a few randoms. It is way too many to be coincidence. At Birmingham it was Ben Jackson/Karl Mahrenholz/1 of the Hendon Mob/1 of their girl pros and some other Genting badged guy with the rest random. Utterly ridic. |
